Mods, I'm sincerely sorry for posting this here. I don't know where else I would have.

I have over the years observed keenly, and noticed that commercial drivers in Nigeria are so rude, mean, aggressive(sometime violent) and uncultured. It is even much worse when they are talking to you on the phone, the way they raise their voice at you. I have never seen a calm and gentle commercial driver. Most are Drunks. They drink heavily and smoke.
What are the causative factors of this uncivil and indecent attitude among Our drivers?
Could it be due to Frustration resulting from hardship?
Could it be due to their low level of education, some are educated, but only a few. Lack of proper education affects the mind and how it reacts to simple issues. They get easily provoked to anger which is sometimes unnecessary.

Could it be due to the excessive intake of hard drugs and other intoxicating substances?

Is that how they handle their families at home?
I want to know

Over 50% of passengers contribute to it.

The dreams nigeria promised them about getting their dream jobs after school was fake!
Driving on the roads was a substitute they could only rely on!

i am a commercial bus driver danfo to be precise maybe if i tell my story you will understand why i am always angry.

I live in a room self contain in a low cost housing, i have to hustle everyday of the year just to meet up with my yearly rent 450k, have to pay my children school fees and feeding of my family, I am the first born so i sent money to my papa and mama for village good times every month, sometimes weekly.
The gov does not support our profession, nah tax and extortion from gov agents, police, state actors, local gov and area boys (political touts), worst of them all is the owner of the bus, miss a week or payless on the agreement, he will frustrate me, he doesnt want to hear say dem impound the bus.

Prices of car parts are also on the highside and mechanics charge more and try to fleece us everyday. But the work and its direction is what mostly makes us mad and angry, you have to be smart on the road and get to your destination very fast to be able to meet up with hire purchase quota and have extra to takecare of your family.

if you are too soft, the road will devour you, no be drink and igbo dey make us strong, nah the fear of losing everything made us who we are, we have to be tough, ruthless and uncultured to be able to take something home for us and our family.
