If a lecturer is paid 5million naira a month them a Dr should be paid 10million naira per month. Saving lives has been bastardized.

A Graduate Assistant earns less than $50 dollars now

Before Dollar rose to 1500naira, 400K would be considered big money to the average citizen.

Then, your 5M salary proposition is not only infeasible, it is ridiculous, outlandish, irrational, illogical, impractical, undoable, hopeless, impossible, greedy, farfetched, unworkable, unthinkable, preposterous, laughable...according to common sense, economic laws and most importantly, the law of diminishing returns.

and students should pay 2 million as tuition

All our Security agencies should also have a pay raise of not less than 5m. Our Security men are passing through alot in this country and no one is saying anything concerning them. If de are paid well, corrupt individuals will be scared to manipulate and steal money bcus of Security men will fish them out to face justice.

But sadly, parents don't pay fees accordingly not knowing it impacts the teacher.

Is not a bad issue provided they will stop shuttling between schools, sell handout, demand bribe for mark, intimidate male students to collect their girls or risk carry over and sexually harass female student.

I did a masters Degree in the UK.
One white student was a professional worker in industry. But he never had degree before.
He used to correct our British professor, that such and such is old method. Industry was already using another new method.
So in summary, even the British masters professor was behind current British industry standards.
What more do you expect from Nigeria that doesn't even have any functioning industries?
Nigerian lecturers/professors will just teach olden days minimum to collect their salary.
YOU, go and find your own work and get your own salary.
They don't give a fxxx about anybody.

Indeed. Teachers, Nurses, Police, Army, Para millitary etc all deserve better wages.

For me, Police, Army, Customs, Immigration and para millitary should have a starting salary of about N500k, because at the low level, not much education is required.

Nurses and Teachers should have like N1mln, because it requires higher level of education.

While Doctors and Lecturers should start with N1.2mln, graduating to N3mln for consultants and professors.

And for those who say is that commensurate to what a Lecturer earns abroad, remember that its not a direct like for like comparison. Living expenses are not the same in America and Nigeria. Rent in Yaba, Akoka, Anthony, Gbagada is still like N3mln pa ($1740) for a nice 3 bed terrace. If you are in Ibadan, Enugu, Akure, Makurdi etc, accommodation would be even way cheaper.

In America , if you are lucky that $1740 will be for a month. Meaning accommodation in America is roughly 12times more expensive. Not to mentions things like medical, insurance, taxes, food etc which are a lot more expensive in America.
