Good day Nairalanders, Two months ago, I came here seeking advice on whether I should take a job as a private school teacher while also taking a virtual assistant training https://www.nairaland.com/8218337/teaching-job-virtual-assistant-course , or focus on the virtual assistant training while staying at my mom's place (something I was reluctant to do due to some reasons). I received advice that I should take the job, as it would at least sustain me and take care of my basic needs. Well, I followed that decision. However, it wasn't easy at all. Firstly, at the school, I was given six subjects to teach (Civic Education, National Value, Security Education, Literature in English, Marketing, and Agricultural Science), and I was also asked to teach JSS1 to SS3, which was against our agreement of me teaching at most three subjects and only to the senior secondary class. The pressure was so much because I discovered that the students were lagging behind, as they had yet to complete the previous term's syllabus. Before accepting the job, I was only having around ₦28,000. I never knew the kind of hunger I would encounter. Bro, I don't know how to put it into writing - the kind of hunger I faced was unbearable. After two weeks on the job, eating became difficult; most times, I went to school on an empty stomach. It was then that I understood why some teachers eat their students' food. I was placed as a class teacher for JSS1 students, and these students eat in the morning immediately after school. You need to perceive the aroma of the foods. I won't lie; I was tempted, but I never did that - I never touched any of their food. Eba and egusi became the only food I ate for breakfast and dinner, and I would drink garri in the afternoon after getting back from work. Most nights, I cried myself to sleep because I had never suffered like that in my life. I even thought of suicide, but I had to talk myself out of it. I hoped that when I received my first salary, things would be different, but when I actually collected the salary of ₦32,000, I realized how bad things had gotten in this country. Nothing changed because I realized that if I decided to buy or eat certain food, the money would not last beyond the second week after payday. I continued to eat my eba and only ate rice once a week. It was hell, mehn, all the while I was still undergoing my course. I just had to make a decision that I needed to quit the job and go home because if I continued, I might do something bad to myself, facing those challenges. So, in the second week after my salary, I went to give the management my resignation letter, giving them a two-week notice. They didn't want to accept it because I initially promised to work for at least a complete term with them, but I didn't care anyway because I was fed up and frustrated at that point. I went back to my mom's place, and now I've successfully completed the Virtual Assistant training. I'm seriously looking for a job role as a virtual administrative assistant or any role that requires someone to assist you. I can help you manage your calendar and email, plan travel, work as customer support, track your expenses, and many other tasks. I am available and have the resources to work both remotely and on-site. |

Some principals are wicked o, how can someone be paid N32000, with the amount of school tasks being assigned to u Your salary should not be less than N65000, even if you are just starting with them or trying to acquire experience Everyone knows how the economy is, Employers should try to pay employees well, so that they give out productivity and consistency to your business This same school principals will still go and look for another innocent people to enslave with there yeye school stress. Let them try and pay well, na even people self go dey rush to come there school come teach |

I resigned from teaching late 2022... The next year I brushed up my piano skills and decided to start feeding on it.. I was jumping from one church to another,I even opened a WhatsApp and Facebook group to teach piano,,funny enough clients come,,I was saving the money,I got a laptop, registered for Cybersecurity class....I stumbled on learning video editing online through YouTube and I started brushing up the skill relentlessly... My first client came and gave me 20k for a 60 seconds video... Jesussssss..I said this is where I am staying.... The second client paid me 50k for two jobs...and decided to retain me... With that I registered again for my cybersecurity again and started learning it over and over again...I stumbled on AI and ML too,I bought crash courses... And infact my life hasn't been the same anymore... Just take a bold step and be relentless.. That's all I can say |
