femi4:People fail to understand that there are benefits and risks in every single thing that we do. Posting one's achievements on social media has some benefits as well as risks. Does the benefit outweigh the risks? What exactly are these risks? Are they actual risks based on cold facts or are they just Nollywood inspired? |
| Re: Posting Your Achievements On Social Media, Yay Or Nay? by femi4: 4:53pm On Dec 08, 2024 |
DrAda:No spiritual risk whatsoever. Leave that thing Davido et al has been flaunting riches on social media, which village people don bring his money down |

femi4:I totally agree. These risks simply do not exist. I fear for our collective mental state. It's really primitive |

purples25:I find your post very interesting and honest. It is something many people struggle with, especially as how they envisaged life never came to fruition. There are ways to mitigate the worry. One such is acknowledging that there are people bigger than us just as we are bigger than others. The goal is to live a fulfilled life on your terms, not on others. So a friend who travels to Japan did so because she could afford it. If you can travel to Ghana or Kenya for tourism, good as well. A way to achieve this is to play to your strengths. Once you play to your strengths, you become very good at it and achieve the best you want in life. There are many ways to kill the rat, the koko is that the rat is dead. Also, understand where you are coming from and where you are now. You have done well. In life, one cannot always have it all. You win some and lose some. But be proud of your winnings. Additionally, be genuinely happy for other people who post their winnings as they show that anyone could achieve them. I believe life na turn by turn provided one works for it with a bit of luck here and there. I had mates and contemporaries who moved to study abroad with generous scholarships and worked in multinational corporations. I was happy for them and knew I wanted the same. But the route does not have to be the same. I charted my course, and today, I am glad I achieved the same as they did. Few years difference between theirs and mine. The koko is to play to your strengths, be grateful and contented. Yes, you can always and will always get more, but be happy for what you have now while you strive for more. As for your "friend" who posts pictures as a counterpose, if possible, silence her posts or delete contact. Alternatively, bar her from viewing your posts. This race of life, na only one person dey run am. |

Acidosis:Those ones are entertainers in various niches, using social media as their platform to express themselves. Data on social media is information (the currency of this age). Why giving out vital information about yourself for free when you are not earning from it. More importantly, I think everyone should know whether they stand to gain or lose something by the information one puts out there. |

pocohantas:The bold is true. Apart from following the person, unless closely related, how does someone travel destinations affect one's life? Me, I look forward to such as I make plans to experience the same, if I am interested. I love seeing people enjoy themselves as they worked hard for it. Anyone who develops bad belle because of such does him/herself more harm than good. Way back the Travel section was rich with travel pictures and experiences. Do you still see that in 2024? All we have is, "Which country can I enter with 1.2m?" ![]() IMO, four reasons: - The recent set of japarians haven't settled well in terms of finance and residency to indulge in such. - The previous/older set that showed pictures have gotten older, and wish such, life gets busier - COVID disrupted travel. - Bad belle full Nairaland. This point reminds me of the lass who got so much vitriol when she posted her trips across Nigeria. I was shocked to the bones. She was called all sorts of names from the regular ashawo to lesbian. Well, as a follower of good life, I followed her on IG and today, the "ashawo" is married to a medical doctor and they have a child. I love people that post with discretion. Whether poor, middle class or rich, I like all posts and engage them.GBAM! |

femi4:How was Pop smoke killed? You don’t know shitt about how people can get you with your social media post. A boy was posting wads of $$$ online and got shot right inside his home by people who just got a tip online. Many instances I cannot list. People have met their death and problems from online space. Same way people can get at you when you expose too much to them. |

Basiljoe:This is an interesting thread. Indeed, if it's extremely personal details such as your current locations whenever you embark on leisure travels, names and details of all your kids including where they school, etc, then don't post them online because of security concerns from potential stalkers, house burglers and hired assassins. Even some of your domestic staff can be a potential threat if adequate background checks are NOT carried out. But for business-related matters, you just have to publicized yourself because publicity is KING. That's how folks get to know your brand around the world in whatever business niche you're into. You just have to enhance your business security by carrying out a comprehensive threat assessment and get security gadgets such as CCTV cameras, alarms, tracking devices, portable spy pens, and more. |

joseph1832:Mostly before. Unlike other men, the sex alone doesn't do it for me. Women have random sex daily with men whose faces they can't even remember. So I work on my seduction until she actually falls for me and wants me. Whatever happens, she carries a part of me in heart till she passes on. Not just finding me cute but wanting to be something very intimate with. During the process of seduction, I search her out online too. Women who post too much of their personal lives won't mind a scandal if your entanglement with them doesn't work out. The private ones count their losses and move on. No dragging or scandal. That's why I avoid influencer-type wannabe baddies. I don't want to trend on Instablog. That's why I never get intimate with social media famous girls who curate their lives on their timelines. I never have. |

EmperorCaesar:I think we have the same personality. And I think this type of trait is inborn. A lot of people have tagged me secretive due to my behaviour of not showing off. But it's their cup of tea. I only tell things to people when it is absolutely necessary, anything aside that, I keep it to my self. |
