There's a huge difference between private media and state owned media houses.

Perhaps they were casualties you say. The genesis was there was a massive demonstration wave in the middle-east. When it got to Syria instead of addressing the issues assad decided it was better to crush the people. From peaceful protest then came armed revolution.
