The plateau State government has decorated almost all the major roundabout and junctions in Jos, Plateau State in the spirit of Christmas. While alot are criticising it the work, citing that there are major needs the citizens need and not decorations, others are celebrating the gesture.

Chai....Bukuru was on fire that period,in fact Bukuru experienced some of the worst violence on the first and second day of the riot. Thank God you guys made it out alive bro.

Anyone who really knows what Jos used to be will understand that Jos has lost its soul. The crises has taken out the very essence of Jos. The city has been balkanised. Jos no be Jos of before again.

No be lie o, wetin my eyes see that day na God save me. Most Christian victims of the riot where those living around that area. In fact even when there is no crisis one has to be alert when plying that route.

It's non Christians criticising it

It was all-out madness. Nothing to do with religion. Though the antagonists were Muslims and Christians, it was an ethnic-based violence. If you're in Jos North and you look like someone from jos South, even by your dressing, you're set upon. Jos north has a large Muslim population. The opposite was happening in jos south: if you look like a Muslim, even by your dressing, you're done for in that Christian- dominated area.
The Muslims were not doing it for Islam neither were the Christians doing it for Christianity. It was pure MADNESS fueled by ethnic bigotry.
Thank goodness, after all the madness of those days, there's some sense of saneness now. Though, I'm just wondering how the mainly young people who perpetrated the madness are dealing with their conscience now.
Violence of any kind involving taking of human lives is destructive to the soul. It takes a heavy toll on both the victor and vanquished alike. Take the ongoing isreal- hamas war for instance. You'd think it's all good for isreali soldiers given their upper hand in the conflict. Not necessarily, because there are reports of thousands of them now battling ptsd. I read of an isreali soldier who said since his return from the war front in gaza he couldn't eat meat anymore on account of having seen mangled human bodies of both sides. War/violence is terrible for ALL. PEACE hurts nobody.

The marauders from Sahel almost destroy this beautiful city. There was lot of White men and tourists from all over world in this city back then.

Served in Jos 14 year ago. I mostly have beautiful memories and partly witnessed the conflict. Before leaving this earth, I promise I will visit that town again.
