✓ Pls how can i handle a case of assault and harassment from my neighbour. I noticed the man's sufferings and how to cope in this economy is making him frustrated,thereby hating on me for no reason,on how I'm able to overcome everything. I have 2cars,a gen,solar,food ,comfort and all life,but days ago the man started insulting me over some lil issues of his useless chickens coming to my front door to poo and mess up everywhere. He then assaulted me and threatened to beat me up,this man is close to 65 years but has refused to respect his age and fend got his family.
✓ Should I report the case to the Nigerian police, so that he can be locked up for at least 6months without trial. He seemed to be relieved after the embarrassment he caused me and some sort of boosted his dead ego. The spirit amongst the poor is ,they hate to see young ma. Succeed. All my friends have told me to record it when next he tries such,but I don't need no next time. I want to deal with him legally.pls what's the way forward...

One of the major reasons why things work in other climes but not in places like Nigeria has to do with the fact that people tend to take legal actions when resolving disputes that are meant to be handled in that manner when in Nigeria many would rather just suffer and smile through it all.

This neighbor of yours does not represent the poor so your assessment of poor people is very wrong and uncalled for in this case.

2. If the neighbor did in fact assault you as you claim then you have the right to file charges against him. You don't get to decide the sentence or penalty, rather the law does. And being that you are both neighbors, you may want to opt for settlement path if presented to keep the peace.

So, because he could die in detention, OP should disregard the law completely? You do know that people out there in Nigeria use the same excuse as a reason not to report criminals to the authorities as well?

Not at all,ive reported him to the whole community,my boys have also reported to my residence timeless times .so im always on guard.but im no longer bothered,if a man of about 70years has come to plea with me to forgive and forget. And that if i see him or his wife,I should greet then.but I won't, I stand my ground.let them dey their lane,I've known they are envious and jealous of me,even tho sapa dey worry me.but Let God judge.peopke don't like gentle persons.they love thugs
