buckeyemedia:Ivory Coast has experienced power outages in the past, but they have taken several steps to address the issue and improve their power infrastructure. Some of the measures they have implemented include: * Investing in new power generation capacity: They have built new power plants, including hydroelectric and thermal power plants, to increase their overall power generation capacity. * Improving power transmission and distribution networks: They have upgraded their power transmission and distribution networks to reduce power losses and improve the reliability of their power supply. * Promoting energy efficiency: They have implemented various energy efficiency measures to reduce electricity consumption and conserve energy. * Encouraging renewable energy sources: They have promoted the use of renewable energy sources such as solar and wind power to diversify their energy mix and reduce their reliance on fossil fuels. * Collaborating with neighboring countries: They have collaborated with neighboring countries to improve regional power integration and ensure a more reliable power supply. These measures have helped Ivory Coast to significantly improve its power situation and reduce the frequency and duration of power outages. However, they continue to face challenges such as increasing electricity demand and the need to maintain their power infrastructure. There you go. |

So many have asked nairalanda1 what IVC did, but, being too ashamed, he cant respond with the truth - namely that he simply believes electricity tarriffs should be increased by one thousand per cent or more. |

The minister of power said the country needs about 10 trillion naira to upgrade power infrastructure and improve supply but one oga at the top has budgeted 15trillion naira to build a coastal highway. #Ourmumuneverdo |

mcdon024:You are so excited. Bola Ige was Minister of Mines and Power in 1999. I will post what somebody posted about Bola Ige on Wikipedia below. It may be modified tomorrow. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bola_Ige Following the restoration of democracy in 1999, Ige sought the nomination of the Alliance for Democracy party as a presidential candidate, but was rejected. President Obasanjo appointed Ige as minister of Mines and Power (1999–2000).[11] He was not able to make significant improvements to service provided by the monopolistic National Electric Power Authority (NEPA).[12] He then became Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (2000–2001).[4] In September 2001, Ige said that the Federal government had initiated a program to re-arrange and consolidate the laws of the Federation, publish them in digital form, and make them available on the website of his ministry.[13] He campaigned ardently against the imposition of the Sharia law in the northern states of Nigeria.[1] In November 2001, he said that the Federal government would not allow the Sokoto State government to execute the judgement of a verdict passed by a Gwadabawa sharia court to stone a woman, Safiya Hussaini to death for committing adultery.[14] |

mcdon024:You are so excited to report the National Grid collapse. I have to start from Chief Bola Ige for reference purpose. When Obasanjo became President in 1999, one of his focal developmental agenda was stable electricity for 24 hours economy. He needed a trusted person at Power and Mines because of Electricity and Steel (Ajaokuta). He made Bola Ige the Minister overseeing these portfolios. Within months, we experienced Grid collapse nearly weekly, there is hardly a month without Grid collapse. This prompted Afenifere and South West leaders of thought who suspected sabotage to advise Bola Ige to resign and return home. To prevent this, Obasanjo made him Minister of Justice. That was the end. The present frequent Grid collapse is happening at a time of significant improvement in power supply. We may attribute it to overload of old and overstressed power infrastructure. It is good it is happening at a time Solar Technologies have improved tremendously. I know of some hotels and factories in Lagos that run purely on Solar. The cost of implementation is huge especially that of high capacity Lithium batteries but it works. Each State would be forced to generate electricity also. I cannot rule out sabotage. The power supply has improved. High cost of fuel has killed Small and medium domestic generator business. The reason for sabotage under Bola Ige as Minister of power cannot be totally ruled out but I doubt it. I believed it is dilapidated and overstressed power infrastructure. |

nairalanda1:Now it is goo goo exists because you don't have anything to say. You are tired of copy and paste? I was expecting you to tell us how they are paying 500 naira per kWh in Ivory coast as you always do with your misinformation. https://www.economie-ivoirienne.ci/en/activites-sectorielles/electricity.html 0.11 dollars which is equivalent of 170.41 Naira is what they pay in Ivory Coast per kWh.
