See previous thread here: Vandalism On Transmission Tower In Ikot Ekpene Causes Blackout

ST - Ahmad Zakari @arkazaure

Yesterday we had a grid collapse, the driver was sabotage of Ikot-Ekpene Calabar 330kv tower. The grid is connected, an event at a large power source can collapse the system. Sabotage of our infrastructure by citizens is difficult to comprehend. The list is long.

1. AKK gas pipeline: Attacks and kidnapping of personnel delayed project in 2022

2. Zungeru 750MW Hydro Power: Kidnapping of personnel delayed project completion at 95%

3. Multiple instances of damage to Damaturu-Maiduguri 330kV lines pushing Maiduguri into darkness.

4. Abuja - Kaduna Rail damage and subsequent attack kidnapping and killings

5. Okpai gas pipeline damage taking 350MW off the grid

It is important to improve security but infrastructure is vast, spans thousands of kilometres and has multiple risk points, when citizens sabotage infrastructure it leads you to question if we want to progress as an nation. Hardship inflicted on fellow citizens is unconscionable.

We will work to innovate infrastructure security protocol but securing our infrastructure must be everyone’s work. If you see someone damaging infrastructure please take actions to report to authorities or intervene if possible. This is our “common wealth” and we must protect it.

As patriots we must unite and condemn this Destruction of national infrastructure.

We should be reminded that we are in massive debt brought upon us by our failed political elite.

Well it's logical to condemn this act but FG should stop giving lame excuse for the epileptic power in the country..

If those our leaders could be enjoying basic amenities in abroad like stable electricity, wondering why it is now a rocket science to provide same in their own country

Though Nigeria indeed have a failed and woeful government in position but the criminal atrocities of willful saboteurs is another dimension to the many problems beleaguering this failed nation.

Some people just love darkness. Even when you show them light, they still prefer darkness because only with darkness will they carry out their shameful act.

This kind of attitude will not take this country anywhere.....when the government is doing everything possible to make infrastructures better and then some devil incarnate who detest development will be doing everything possible to draw them back...honestly it's unfair...doing it just to suffer the citizens and tarnish the image of this present administration.

This now buttress the allegations from some quarters that some people (both within and outside the country) are hellbend to frustrate Nigeria from achieving power efficiency in the country.
I suspect grand sabotage against the Nigerian people and blackmail the government as being unable to provide essential services.
The sequence of the attack leaves much to belief that they are randomly carried out!
DSS please uncover the perpetrators of this heneious crime against the Nigerian people!

No one can tell me those vandals aren't affiliated directly or indirectly to PDP.

This, and terrorism, are the weapons they hope would force the hand of Nigerians into doing away with APC. But I've got news for them; come rain come shine, PDP is going NOWHERE close to Aso Rock in 2023, period!!

Rail attacks, abductions, electricity infrastructure sabotage, all bear the imprint of those who want to force a change of government.

But I agree with you, our intelligence services need to root out these elements as they constitute not just a security, but also an existential threat to this country. So far, their performance has been below par.

It's absolute foolishness for a country as big as Nigeria to have a single national grid

I've always suspected the problem could be pure sabotage.

Instead blaming the opposition, I'll rather place the blame on the door step of the government that has all the apparatus to nip this in the bud but failed.

Is it the opposition that is also responsible for the wholesale theft of crude?
Is it alliens that are responsible for the moribund status of the refineries despite gulping trillions of naira on turn around maintenance?

Only a lazy workman blames his tools and everyone around but himself.

I actually wanted to believe them until they also listed the attack on the Abuja Kaduna rail as one of the causes of the grid collapse. Supporters above are already blaming the opposition in their usual excuses.

The attack on the Abuja-Kaduna rail line was not listed as one of the causes of the collapse of the national grid. It was listed as one of the examples of sabotage of national infrastructure. The person that created the Twitter thread is the special adviser on infrastructure.

Collapse so lazy ne'r do wells like you, who probably have no stake in life whatsoever, could get rich from criminal activities like looting, etc.

You better go look for something useful to do with your life while you still have the time. Nigeria isn't collapsing anytime soon.

Nigeria is really under siege by local and imported bad elements, only if we have a government that can be decisive by tackling them headlong before sanity can be restored.

I guess APC used propaganda tactics to chase off the PDP, while PDP is now using pure sabotage of infrastructures against APC. This is what's in people's mind.

But let me inform you that this government is even against itself, there will be no end to all of this until people start voting for credibility, not by party or individual or ethnic.
