Jack Dorsey, the founder and former CEO of Twitter, was in Nairobi, Kenya, for the Africa Bitcoin Conference. Just trying to imagine how "poor" people try to impress with very expensive outfits just to prove a point

I get you point.

...but I am not far from the truth. Besides, this platform is majorly for the Nigerian audience.

White billionaires don't give a flying f*ck about their dressing sense, all the care about is making money and more money.

I agree with you.

Bill gates, Jeff Bezos, Mark, Jack, the list is endless.

Thank you for this comment. On this Nairaland, I saw one user complaining that Tinubu looks odd for dressing in a traditional attire and I reminded them that no Nigerian President wears suit, they don't. It took 3 defeats for Buhari to wear one for his campaign.

Another user said Nigerian men should stop wearing traditional attire and put on sweat pants. I think these people have consumed too much media they lack self awareness and sense of culture.

After selling Twitter and used the money to smoke kwale igbo (weed), and carry Lagos olosho.

It’s a form of lack of self dignity, self awareness and respect to base your life on the perspective of others

I don’t give a fuvk whatever he wears or what anyone wears. I dress to my taste and comfort and that’s how it should be

you are even over stressing the matter.
The guy is looking like a drug addict and there's nothing nice about his dressing. He looks unkept like those Niger/Chad okada riders.
Is he a billionare? yes... good for him, who cares? I am not begging him for food and I will never beg him for food.
He has his reasons and mode of appearance, and that event looks like a casual one.

It is that big dark guy in black for me.. What in the stomach is that?!?!

And I feel he is dressed like that because he does not respect his hosts.

Will he go dressed like this to an event in his home country? He did not even try to make an effort.

Let's stop glorifying mediocrity.

But to be true, I will not dress this way if I have that kind of money. Where is my honour if I dress shabbily when I can afford decent dress sense. Everything is not about vanity. There is dignity in dress modestly.
Re: Jack Dorsey's Dressing To An Event In Kenya (Photo) by Angelfrost(m): 5:58pm On Dec 11, 2024
When you have such amount of wealth and influence, dressing or outfit choice is the least of your headaches.

Besides, if the occasion is not specific on a dress code, then whatever anyone wears shouldn't raise dust.

Another reason why books shouldn't always be judged before being read.

As long as a person is decently outfitted, then his or her fashion taste is not up for argument or debate.

What exactly is your message? In my line of work I’ve come to realized that you dress the way you want to be addressed. Dress simple and people price you anyhow. Dress mature and classy and watch how they address you with respect.

But one painting in his house may cost millions of dollars. The monthly upkeep of his pets may feed a family in Nigeria for one year. Everyone get wetin dey make am happy. Make una leave those that love dressing well. Na dressing to impress be the problem...
Re: Jack Dorsey's Dressing To An Event In Kenya (Photo) by Ringstonermasks: 6:00pm On Dec 11, 2024
he looks emaciated like he is on drugs.

I can't av such money and look miserable, God forbid.

and it not a good comparison too. only poor people find solace in news like this, just to justify their inability to own luxury brands.

there are more millionaires and billionaires in d world that dress richly. They wear expensive suites, gucci, Amani, Dior, Louis Vuitton, etc.

Jack Dorsey got something going for him, like I said, it either drugs or he has a poor fashion sense.

this short life, u wan look miserable. God forbid.

whatever he's smoking is not good for him. This is a billionaire, at least he's supposed to look good. Some low mentality people are saying poor people are dressing to impress, its not about impressing anyone. Just appear good looking grin
Re: Jack Dorsey's Dressing To An Event In Kenya (Photo) by Jagabanbattle: 6:00pm On Dec 11, 2024
Tech guys don’t value expensive dressings. Mark Zuckerberg is an example.
Re: Jack Dorsey's Dressing To An Event In Kenya (Photo) by ZACHIE: 6:00pm On Dec 11, 2024
He is demeaning his hosts.
There is absolutely nothing to celebrate in this unkempt appearance. Tramps dress like this, only.
