Keeping her warm is the first priority. Meet her at the airport with a good warm jacket and take it from there.

Hope u have a personal travel care or assistant service for her if she's travelling alone for the first time to Canada especially since its not a direct flight.

Before She Travels, since you're not there with her, those in Nigeria making arrangements for her travel should ensure the following...

1. Take her to the doctor for a checkup.
2. Make sure she has enough medicine for the trip.
3. Get travel insurance to help with medical bills.
4. Check her passport and visa. This is very obvious yet very important lol 😂

Clothes for the trip.
1. Get her thermal underwear to keep her warm.
2. Buy a warm, waterproof coat or jacket.
3. Get gloves, hats, and scarves to keep her head and hands warm.
4. Buy warm socks and waterproof boots.

Where to Buy Clothes in Nigeria; I can only speak for Lagos but you can get them anywhere in Nigeria. You can also order online
1. Tejuosho Market in Lagos
2. Balogun Market in Lagos
3. Online stores like Jumia or Konga
I don't know where she's travelling from so if possible, book a direct flight to reduce stress and when she arrives, cook her favourite Nigerian dishes.

You've asked yourself a helpful question,...Travelling to an extremely cold region for the first time and at that age? Me wey never old, i no dey like visiting Canada during cold except it's extremely important. DC,NY and other east cost states incl most Canadian provinces during cold are a no go area for me.

I know you love your mum but you can show her more love and care by inviting her next summer. Her visa should be valid up to the expiry of her passport. My humble advice

Remember old people are not meant to sit for too long in one place . She should stretch her legs in the plae and walk around once in a while. Buy her compression socks if you can.

Why is your elderly mother the one going up and down visiting you guys when you should be the ones visiting her?

Make sure you have Nigerian food she's used to. A typical elderly Nigerian will tell you s/he no be goat to dey eat leaves.
