What is the distance between the school and the lecturer's residence? I mean, how many hours drive?
Lol... Even if I explain to you the details, you will still doubt it... I have given you a simple task which is to increase your cycle of friends, and ask some questions concerning this.... I am sure you might hear worse cases of the plights of some lecturers...

This has nothing to do with the size of someone's cycle of friends.

The economy is undoubtedly harsh. But sales girls, cleaners, security officers and civil servants in local government secretariats still afford transport to workplaces. Are these jobs now better than lecturing?

When they were suppose to be generating great ideas, they turned education into a means of validating intellect and memory capacity.

.... Are you aware some persons stopped working because of transportation cost? Are you aware that many businesses have been badly affected because of the increased price of petrol? I help supervise a particular factory, the cleaner there I let her come to work sometimes once a week because it's not realistic for she to be coming everyday with the salary, and guess what , many other places will even pay less or almost half of what is paid to her but because of her dedication to work in the past , one has to find other ways to keep her . I don't know if live in Nigeria or if you are suffering like me in this country, but it's hell out there despite the little privilege I have ...

I never denied the things you outlined here.

My point is, have lecturing jobs gone that bad? I have a cousin who is a teacher in a government primary school. She got the job two years ago and earns less than 50k monthly. I don't know if the new minimum wage has become effective for her. She spends at least 600 Naira on transport daily. Is her job better than lecturing in a university? Answer this question.

I am neither a supporter nor a defender of Tinubu. My signature is enough proof. But I stand by the truth. I don't accept unconfirmed rumours, even if the rumours go against someone I do not like.

Are we really sure that some lecturers sleep in their offices primarily to cut transportation cost? Or, is this just an exaggeration? If it is a case of lecturers living outside the states of the universities and cannot afford hotels, the record should be put straight.

There is a part in the post where a professor claims that he is not aware of any of his colleagues sleeping in offices. Notice that only the ASUU chairman claims that some lecturers sleep in their offices, and he doesn't provide any evidence.

Until any lecturer comes out to say that he or she sleeps in his or her office primarily to cut transportation cost, I don't believe this report. The ones who trek to the schools should tell us how many minutes they trek. I'm not doubting the hardship. But I hate exaggerations. So, I want evidence.

Anyways, some professors in these institutions participate in rigging elections.

They all rig elections not some. Infact, they look forward to electoral duties to collect their share of national cake. They should enjoy thier leaders.

Nigeria university education is overrated.

Monday Okpebholo has a degree in Business Administration from the University of Abuja and holds Masters' degree in Policy and Leadership Studies from the same institution. Yet he can't read a simple budget.

Close down all government university and invest in electric power plants and large scale farms.

please think for once think think use your head and brain. How much do they pay sales girls ? The transportation alone is more than the sale girls salary.

Your advice goes to you. Use your brain to think. If your brain is not enough, borrow more if you can. If the sales girls can afford transport to their work places, how come lecturers in universities are the ones sleeping in their offices because of transportation cost? It is either the sales girls' jobs are better than lecturing jobs or things are exaggerated in the news.
