I am confused too but I think I once heard that the deputy was heading a ministry before. Maybe, he was redeployed to another ministry according to the news. Just like the president acting as the minister for petroleum. All the same, there is no limit to what is possible in this country

Many Yoruba and Igbo people here are very dumb sha, and also mentally lazy. A simple research is what they cannot do yet they rush to post comments. How can you demote a Deputy Governor? Common sense should tell you that the Deputy Governor was also doubling as a Commissioner and was redeployed to head another ministry.

As for the fool taught it wrong or an "aboki" thing to scrap the office of the Chief of Staff, there's nothing the Chief of Staff does that the SSG doesn't do. Fools!

Do not tribalise it. I am Igbo and I knew what happened. I am even happy that someone is thinking outside the box. We really need to cut down the cost of governance if we are to make any headway as a nation

Not deputy governor but deputy chief of staff, since the chief of staff office has been scrapped

His deputy can be redeployed to any ministry, to head the ministry. He's still the deputy governor, some deputy governors in Nigeria do head ministry

nothing special here, he remains the deputy, he was also a commissioner that's why he was redeployed to another ministry as a commissioner, serving both offices .

The Governor and Deputy Governor are on a joint ticket and were elected by the electorates.

The Governor does not have the powers to remove the deputy. Both of them can only be removed by the state house of assembly through an impeachment proceeding.

The foregoing having been established, the Governor has the powers to delegate functions to his deputy, including asking him to take over any ministry. This is exactly what was done here.

For the sake of emphasis and further education, NO elected public office holder can be sacked by the executive.
