Thus, we can just put it this way (according to you of course). The United States wanted an interventionist foreign policy but due to the lack of legality danced around helping Britain by providing destroyers. So in short, the overlooking of Britain's excesses in the Americas was the price Britain had to pay that allowed America to step inside Europe. Like I said, you need to provide an official document that at least establishes a change in US foreign policy for this if we are to agree to it as a fact.
