I identify more as a Yoruba than a Nigerian — Kemi Badenoch

The leader of the UK’s Conservative Party, Kemi Badenoch, has stated that she identifies as Yoruba rather than broadly as “Nigerian.”

Speaking with The Spectator in an interview, she explained that her limited connection to northern Nigeria, which she described as a haven for Islamism and Boko Haram, influences her perspective.

According to her, “I find it interesting that everybody defines me as being Nigerian. I identify less with the country than with the specific ethnicity [Yoruba].

I have nothing in common with the people from the north of the country, the Boko Haram where Islamism is.”

I hope our VP can now see why she doesn’t have a problem disparaging her homeland to please foreigners. 😂

Nothing bad in identifying as a Yoruba. Her dad was a proud Yoruba conservative and was a member of Ilana Omo Oodua before his demise.

However I fault her using “Boko Haram” in this context.

We have Yoruba everywhere in multiple countries so she can be a Yoruba in the UK without being a Nigerian.
