ogaemma:Omo IBO, the best thing that happened to me was attending University in IBO land several years ago. Most of our non IBO Alumnus also have the same experience. Mallam Abdulrazak was telling me the same thing in Kano last week. The best thing that ever happened to us not because of special benefits but because it made us understand the IBOS thinking and Culture. That type of thinking is seen and felt while in the Campus and within the cities. If we had not attended that Institution in IBO land we wouldn't have known how selfish and crude their School of thoughts have been. Only IBO man can think that an Industrial Park in the University located in a rural State seeking for Industrial development is not for the benefits of humanity. Only IBO man will think a man going to 100 years is not planning for the future of the University after his demise on earth and not planning to turn the University to a Technical Incubation Center but all he is doing is to make money. Only IBO man will think about the development of the University as a development of the Yoruba man . |

@onuman, I've not had the luxury of time since you posted the insipid, largely hollow response to my assertion. For a start, you lack rudimentary lessons of Lagos history. Two, you were, well maybe, you're still being driven by emotions. Thus, you can't separate logic from your emotional whims. By 1908, Lagos was already a developed city. Whereas, your rat hole of a village or whatever you call it was still in obscurity- without electric power, railway system etc, etc. And, with certitude, I can bet most of your forebears were still roaming and foraging the bushes and forests of your region for food. Lagos had been interacting with the outside world as far back as the 15th century. In 1473, it had an interaction with the Portuguese. In 1861, it became a British colony. Carter Bridge was constructed in 1908, I think. Where were other tribes in Nigeria by then. And what did they contribute to the GDP of Lagos? If anything, the FG made Lagos a capital because of its development and not otherwise. It's very interesting that you veered of the crux of the matter. Well, that's how people with paucity of ideas or ammunition do. They go on the defensive. My focus was on the SW, not Lagos. How did the issue of Lagos come in? If talking about one's nationality-because I see the SW as a nation, the Yoruba nation- is tantamount to chest beating, then I think your education, if u had any- is very much wasted. Eventually, Nigeria will split, then you'll realise what you and your lot have been taking for granted. * Lagos has ceased to be the capital for 33 years now. And what have other tribes contributed to it, if not swarming it for economic and social survival. |

kokomilala:Shurrup. I read only two lines of your usually stupeed and illogical responses. Return to your dustbeaten, thatched roof houses in the decrepit villages in the mostly rural southwest region and queue for bread there as usual. Lagos was built, and is being built, by all of Nigeria with their taxes and proceeds from crude oil and gas deposits in the Southsouth and southeast regions of Nigeria. |

@onuman, as it's typical of lame brains. They can't sustain any arguments without recourse to the use of vile, insults. I've asked you to prove to me how Lagos was built by other tribes. But you're on a farcical merry-go-around of spewing nonsense, distilled as insults. When u go gun ho in your hysteria, u should always allow logic and common sense have their ways- no matter. |

kokomilala:Speaking dogon turenchi telling yourself that you are best educated. Typical of Yaribawa Muslims who embraced Pa Awo's free education in the SW but use their education in a negative way. once you write on any online space that Lagos is a mega city built by the Yoruba, your head cools off; once you write that the eastern region of Nigeria is all bush and villages inhabited by the pigmyies and the hotentots from Congo, your happiness about Nigeria doubles. I want the whole of Nigeria to have the basic necessities of life like pipe borne water, electricity, standard railway system and good roads. With these facilities available all over Nigeria, no where is more developed than the other. You are a bush man with deranged mindset. |

@onuman, in your futile efforts to attempt to counter my argument, you're floundering like a weak bulb, propped hurriedly or badly in a faulty lamp holder. What u have is a light that touches and goes as it were. I never for once said the other tribes were pigmies or anything less. My argument is clearly enunciated- the SW works because of visionary leadership. I'm baffled that that twanged a chord of hate in you. It's difficult to argue against the contributions of the Yoruba to Nigeria's development. Some of it's finest hours have been brought by people of Yoruba descent, from music to sport; from international diplomacy to culture. We have demonstrated the Omoluabi ethos in everything we do. More often than not, we've left pur footprints everywhere we've passed. You can see the documentary, Bigger Than Africa in order to cure yourself of hate towards people of the SW. * More than 50% of Nigerians live in the SW, not just Lagos. |

kokomilala:Your much-vaunted visionary leadership of Yoruba contributing to developing the SW region. Where is the development? You are virtually blind. Germany was carpetbombed during WW11. Today, all of Germany are ultramodern. It's similar in the southeast which you love to call bush. Today, except Lagos in the SW region, no Yoruba town or village is more modern than the cities and villages in the southeast. Your problem is you don't look beyond the nose. |

@onuman, which states in the SE are more developed than SW states? And are they free of the crises of habitability, which drive young people to the SW in search of a better life. If these states are more developed, better governed than the SW states, why are the inhabitants thronging Lagos and the SW? Whether you like to admit it or not, the SW is carrying the country economically and socially. The economy of the SE is near grounded...in short, it's grounded in a relative sense. This is a situation where adults are beaten up and forced to sit at home because there is a failure of societal leadership. There's something amiss culturally. And this should be concerning. |
