Then God said, “Behold, I have given you every seed-bearing plant on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit contains seed. They will be yours for food. How can God give us every seed-bearing plant and every tree whose fruit contains seed as food for man when some of them are poisonous? A better word would have been "some" not "every"! Mightysparrow don't you think so?

It was the case before God CURSED the group on account of human rebellion: “Because you listened to your wife’s voice and ate from the tree concerning which I gave you this command, ‘You must not eat from it,’ CURSED is the ground on your account. In pain you will eat its produce all the days of your life. It will grow thorns and thistles for you, and you must eat the vegetation of the field." Genesis 3:17-18 Before Adam sinned all the trees and plants were for food so they all grow fruits that's good for consumption but after the rebellion and CURSE Adam and his descendants have to WORK in order to figure out which one is edible because most plants will produce thorns and thistles whose seeds or fruits may not be edible. MaxInDHouse:The idea is understood but the quoted verses didn't do justice to the OP. God cursed the ground...God added thorns and thistles....There was no mention of seed-bearing plants and trees with fruit seeds! |

AntiChristian:If you study botany you will realize that weeds (fruitless plants) are stronger than fruit bearing plants so you have to continue cutting the weeds otherwise it will choke the fruit bearing plants. That's what happened to our planet. After leaving the garden Adam and his children had to work hard to preserve fruit bearing plants outside the garden otherwise they will starve to death because it's the thorns and thistles that the ground started to yield instead of fruit bearing plants that's good for consumption. So the fruit bearing plants are everywhere on the earth before the CURSE but thorns and thistles are choking them till today! |

In simple terms, as stated previously, before the curse, the plants on the earth produced crops, herbs and fruits, good for food. After the curse, sickness came in. Thus came the need for healing. Still in God's love, some crops were then good not for food, but as herbs for medicine. As a medical student, every drug is a poison, do you get it now? In short, after the curse, the earth produced death for man, but there is also the cure for us, which we need to work to find out. When we plant, we need to nurture it, weed it, to produce a bountiful harvest, or else weeds and thorns would take over. Even certain animals, fungi, parasites, many microbes came from the earth, became a source of death to us. |
