Nigeria just needs to build our real economy by producing things we consume and if possible increase our export.

Once we can do that, the rate of inflation will go down and naira will appreciate in value. What we were having before was a cosmetic growth not built on the fundamental foundation of economic development. It was solely on crude export, fixed exchange rate that skewed towards the elite that had political influence thereby create arbitrage for only a select few. That was not sustainable which was why Nigeria could not meet with its obligations before

Our problem for a long time is the artificial growth we were having.

Let's produce food for our consumption and export, produce textiles we wear and if possible export. We need to reduce our consumption of foreign food and materials and encourage local production. Ina very short time, our economy will grow.
Can we just forget in we are in a class school and face reality ..
Anyone could have argued local refinery would be a major break through for Nigeria ... but today we have local refinery but no one can pinpoint any positive impact not even in price
Buhari ban a lot of food items just to promote agriculture and farming 9yrs after nothing to depict growth

Nigeria defiles logic, or economic theories, how do you promote local production in an economic where purchasing power as being eroded, the ease of doing business is <1

Our leaders dont mean well, there wealth flourishes from Nigeria problem

This is just a proof thay ronukus are stark illiterate. Remebe when the VAT figures came out and they were lambastin their father's in SE because it had the lowest VAT, not knowing that it means the people of that region are actually living better than those in other regions

The senate mentioned a 600 page bill in their sittings, the online version has 200 pages. Do you think what is currently online is the full/final version subject to review? If nothing is hidden, i am not sure there should be much disparity in the volume.
I completely agree with you on that, there are certain things hidden from the public in the bill but it's a step on the right direction.

...and that's down to mismanagement. Power subsidy has replaced petrol and is always rising. Even in darkness. That is corruption. Govt increased the rate and most customers are paying the rate so what is the point of increasing subsidy? It shows you that wherever the money is, corruption will always be there and the solution is to eliminate corruption.
THE CAUSE of CORRUPTION is subsidies and government ownership of productive assets & companies.

EVIDENCE -

compare corruption in private and government universities.

compare corruption in the telecoms BEFORE and AFTER privatization and deregulation of the sector.

You mentioned forex subsidy. Round tipping is a form of corruption facilitated by forex subsidy and regulated price.

In the USA the major form of corruption in the crude oil and natural gas sector involves ALLOCATION of wells located on government owned lands. Look up USA BLM oil leases scandal OIG report.

Anyone that doesn't understand these truths just doesn't want to.

Good Luck to Nigerians.

Don't mind them. They are keeping it away from the masses and want the masses to keep quiet. I don't believe Tinubu. That man is too wicked to believe
I don't think Tinubu is the problem. We the people in general are the main problem.

Have you thought why the things that could be controversial are hidden in thin fine prints? In this case where we don't know the hidden thing, it could be more deep than we can imagine and there is no reason why such things should be hidden from the public.

Naira has lost over 70% of its value just one year since TPain took office.

Whatever trillions you hear about today is worth a fraction of what it was worth just last year alone.

BATists keep pushing this propaganda of increased revenue allocation to states, but they don’t tell you the increase is due to the decline of the currency

$1 billion today is worth N1.6 trillion, but the same amount was worth N500 billion just one year ago so certainly there is money money but worth less.
Many of you are simply ignorant.

Tinubu didn't cause the mess on ground; Buhari did! Tinubu is simply taking care of the mess.

When Tinubu took over government, 97% of government revenue was being spent on debt servicing. This was because Buhari had borrowed too much money and government was spending practically all revenue to service debt.

For the foreign reserves, there was only $3bn net foreign reserves. That means there was only $3bn available to the CBN to spend. Meanwhile, the CBN was owing buyers of forex, $7bn.

I wrote off Buhari within his first 30 days in office when I considered his economic policies. Charles Soludo, Pat Utomi and Lamido Sanusi urged the government to end the policies but Buhari was obstinate.

Blame 8 years of bad economic policies under Buahri for the mess on ground and not Tinubu.

But it was Bola Tinubu who enabled Buhari's electoral victory in 2015. Everyone knows that.

<sigh>

Good Luck to Nigeria.

Zombie o zombie. Nigeria’s foreign reserve as at May 29, 2015 was $35 billion. Here is the link for an ignoramus calling people ignorant: https://www.thecable.ng/cbn-foreign-reserves-dropped-to-33-23bn-in-q3-2023-lowest-in-2-years

Now to your other mention of 8 years, who campaigned for Buhari for another 4 years after he started messing up the country between 2015 and 2019? Who lied to Nigerians that Buhari was fixing 16 years of PDP rot? Who lied to Nigerians that Buhari was fixing the economy and that was why Nigerians were facing hardship? Isn’t that the same thing you’re doing again? Lying to Nigerians that Tinubu is fixing the economy? Tomorrow you’ll still come here and tell us you wrote Tinubu off. Mtcheeeeew!

See how you stylishly washed your hands off Buhari’s government? So convenient. That’s why they call you people cowards and betrayers. For 8 years of Buhari government, TPain and people like you lied to Nigerians that he was fixing the economy. Only to turn around immediately after he left office to tell Nigerians that he destroyed the country. The blame is on TPain and people like you. You not only claimed he was fixing the economy, you campaigned for his reelection and continued on the sycophancy till he left office.

It’s the audacity for you to try to launder your image, and to be doing it with boldness. Words mean absolutely nothing to people like you. You dish it out and deny it anytime.

Tueh!

There's a difference between foreign reserves and "net foreign reserves." Net foreign reserves stand for the actual amount readily available to the CBN to meet debt obligations or to pay for imports. What you're referring to is the gross foreign reserves.

The net foreign reserves were $3bn. If there was $35bn, why was the CBN owing buyers $7bn worth of foreign?

https://www.reuters.com/article/markets/us/argentina-net-fx-reserves-seen-5-billion-in-the-red-analysts-say-idUSL1N38S349/a

You mention I was a Buhari supporter. Why?

People like you hate constructive criticism. You place sentiments above constructive reasoning
"That's why they call you people cowards and betrayers " Resortibg to tribalism rather than constructive reasoning.

Look at what Charles Soludo said about the reforms below

https://thenationonlineng.net/subsidy-removal-floating-of-naira-disruptive-changes-nigeria-must-go-through-soludo/

Does that make Soludo a Zombie?

I stand by what I said. Buhari destroyed the economy and Tinubu is fixing it.
