It depends, mustard does not grow in Nigeria. If it does, I don't know it.

Jesus was addressing a particular people, at a particular location,at a particular time with what they can relate with. So, to their own place, mustard could be the smallest available. The Bible talks about fig, Bishop Àjàyí Crowther translated it as ọpọtọ. Ọpọtọ is not fig. Fig does not grow in Yoruba land neither do we find ọpọtọ in Israel.

So, Bible is not a science book like your Quran.

You will save yourself a great deal of problematic confusion if you clearly understood the context in which that parable was made.

Here is a full quote: "He put another parable before them, saying, ‘The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field. It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is larger than all the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches"” (Matthew 13:31–32).

IF you note the specific places I bolded, you will have a better understanding as to why Jesus mentioned the Mustard as being the smallest of all seeds. In the parable's context....it was about a man sowing these Mustard seeds in his field. However, we are also made to understand that the Mustard seed was not the only seed that was sown in that man's field. Perhaps there were other plants too that were sowed in that same field. Jesus emphasized the smallness of the [b]Mustard as being the least compared to ALL THE OTHER SEEDS that man had sown in his field--[/b]yet the amazing percentage of growth compared to the growth yielded by the other seeds planted, makes the least mustard seed a massive giant in the end (it does become a giant tree compared to the other garden plants or even corn stalks in that man's field.

It would not have made sense to use the even smaller orchid seed in that parable's context because the Jewish farmers of that day may not have been familiar with the orchid tree or the orchid's growth percentage from seed to fully grown tree still does not match that of the Mustard's.

When Jesus used the term "the least of all seeds" to the Mustard...think more about the Farmer sowing a veriety of seeds in his field in which the Mustard was also among--being the least. The immediate context of that parable was the farmer and his sowing these seeds in his farm.

The objective of the parable was to make a spiritual illustration. It was not to confuse the audience by bragging about knowing a lot about microscopic seeds..
