President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the reconstitution of the executive management teams for 12 River Basin Development Authorities (RBDAs) under the Ministry of Water Resources, News360 Nigeria reports.

This was disclosed on Wednesday by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, in a statement titled “President Tinubu Approves Executive Management for River Basin Development Authorities.”

Among the appointments, the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority, headquartered in Abeokuta and overseeing Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, and Osun States, will now be chaired by Hon. Odebunmi Olusegun, with Engr. Dr. Adedeji Ashiru serving as the Managing Director.

Out of the 12 river basin development authorities in the country, the entire southeast is lumped into one. Besides, these government bodies are totally unnecessary and usually a duplication of duties, they're just platforms for settling political allies. Tinubu government has used the adoption of Orosanye report on reduction of government agencies and cost of government to play propaganda as usual.
