Ebuka Onunkwo Tours Anambra South: Preaches Hope & Grassroots Representation by ChumzyOma(op): 2:13pm On Dec 19, 2024
IHIALA, EKWUSIGO, NNEWI NORTH AGOG AS CHIEF EBUKA ONUNKWO BRINGS MESSAGE OF HOPE AND OPEN-DOOR REPRESENTATION

Chief Ebuka Onunkwo, December 18, 2024, commenced local government tour to meet with the entire APGA ward executives in Anambra south senatorial district. Chief Onunkwo was warmly received by the entire ward executives and community stakeholders in each of the three local government areas of Ihiala, Ekwusigo and Nnewi North so far visited.

The CEO of Sea Horse Lubricants Industries Ltd – who was accompanied during the visits by a strong delegation of APGA faithfuls and stakeholders – was warmly received by enthusiastic party faithfuls and stakeholders in each of the three local government areas.

Speaking during the well-attended gatherings, Chief Onunkwo preached the gospel of grassroot-based, open-door representation. Referring to his antecedent as an administrator, human capital development expert and entrepreneur with a consistent reputation of integrity and excellence in all his dealings ,Chief Onunkwo emphasized the need for the party delegates to elect a capable hand that will ensure the party gets the seat ‘this time’ and seize the opportunity to collaborate with the solution Governor in bringing development to the senatorial district.

In his words, ‘rival political parties are hoping we make the mistake of choosing a weak candidate with scant grassroots base in Anambra South so our great party may lose to them this singular opportunity to have a say in the red chambers of the National Assembly; this is a mistake our party should guard against by fielding a competent candidate with formidable grassroot base, someone with the right message that resonates with the people and their aspirations’.

‘I am not here to make promises like politicians, but I want you to look at my track records, my business investment in this state which is a clear testimony of my faith and commitment to our people and my years of community service as a yardstick for having faith in my ability to deliver; I will definitely not disappoint you’.

In their responses, the various speakers comprising Local Government and Ward Chairmen, as well as other stakeholders of the party, were unanimous in thanking Chief Onunkwo for volunteering to lead the party to victory. They all described him as a 'homeboy with capacity' who has already proven his mettle in various capacities, including sponsoring the activities of the party, adding that his positive impact would be greatly felt when he is given the opportunity at the Senate.

A survey from some of the attendees showed that the party faithfuls were most comfortable with Chief Onunkwo. They were unanimous in stating that APGA now has its best chance of winning the elusive position given Chief Onunkwo's popularity, record of integrity and love for community service and development.

The delegation will today visit Nnewi South and Aguata Local Government Areas in continuation of the tour.

The influx of moneybags into igbo politics is the main reason why the south-east suffers a great deal of low quality representation politically, especially at the federal level. This trend started with the the Arthur Nzeribes and the Iwuanyanwus in the 80s, but later took a more devilish turn with the Emeka Offors, Arthur Ezes and Andy Ubahs since the coming of the current democratic dispensation.

Having rich business men actively dominating politics, creates a situation where the socalled elected representatives of the peopl, feel that they're too big to answer to the same people that supposedly elected them. This is because as rich as they are, they feel that they basically bought their way to the top and so owe nobody any explanations. And when they get to Abuja, they answer to nobody and cut deals solely for themselves as Orji Kalu and Rochas Okorocha will do. It should stop.

This whole nonsense started since the end of the war. Ojukwus father used to be the man with the money pre civil war, but he never dragged spaces with Zik and Okpara. He bankrolled the party but left the politics to those with the requisite skills and education. These new moneybags should back off. They bring nothing new to the table.

I don't agree with your analysis on the rich being the cause of political misrepresentation.

Would you rather prefer a briefcase politician who has no 'money' of his own and bows to every godfather; joins politics just to fatten his pockets, obey his godfather's bids and not deliver a single project in the people's best interest. Someone who would snatch the mandate and misuse it. Your guess is as good as mine. We don't want such.

You focused more on the negative, forgetting there are very rich, good men who joined politics and attracted federal presence to their zones/states. People who manage(d) multibillion businesses and know exactly how human resources should be managed. Politics gave such people a wider platform to extend their sagacity to a larger body, constituents. Late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah was one of such men. Peter Obi and the likes.

I'd rather we look out for great minds who have stable businesses, preferably within the state. Such people not just foster growth of the state but also bring in initiatives on how to better make the state an enabling environment for both the people and varying businesses.

We need a man like Chief Ebuka Onunkwo to take up the vacant seat in Anambra South Senatorial District.
He is qualified.
