The federal government, through the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Lateef Fagbemi, has declared that governors lack the constitutional authority to suspend or remove local government chairmen from office.

Fagbemi made the declaration while addressing journalists on Wednesday.

His comments were in response to questions about the recent actions of the Edo governor, Monday Okpebholo, who suspended local government chairmen in the state.

As far as am concerned, Fagbemi remains the best attinery General of Nigeria in recent memory.. The guy has made significant moves in strengthening our democracy in recent times without making a noise about it.. You might not like Tinubu but give it to him and Fagbemi on things like this and if we continue in this trajectory we will get it right as a nation going forward.

As far as am concerned, Fagbemi remains the best attinery General of Nigeria in recent memory.. It’s on record that no state Governor has been removed under the APC tenures.
