There is a report that a tragic stampede at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Maitama, Abuja, claimed the lives of at least 10 people, including seven children, on the morning of Saturday, December 21.

The stampede occurred during the distribution of palliatives to residents from nearby settlements. Over 3,000 people reportedly gathered for the relief program, aimed at assisting struggling residents. Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with many attendees arriving as early as 4:00 AM to secure their share.

The tragedy unfolded between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM when the crowd surged forward, leading to the devastating loss of life.

Church and Authorities Respond
Padre Mike Nsikak Umoh, the National Director of Social Communications at the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, confirmed the incident and announced an immediate suspension of the palliative distribution. Security forces, including the police, military, and DSS officers, were deployed to restore order and disperse the crowd.

Tho the OP didn't provide the source of this news for to be certain it's not fake.

I want us to note that most of the stampedes we have had in recent days has not really being the fault of Organizers but the stubbornness and stewpeedity of Nigerians.
We never listen and follow instructions.
So even when organisers say follow door A, you will see Nigerians at door B, C, D and some at G.

Tell Nigerians to queue up and form a straight line and you will see a circle with hundreds of people in the middle.

My sons we stock in traffic after going bowling at Twin Waters a few days ago. I was told the traffic light at Marwa was working but some people ran the red lights and blocked the road... They got home about 11pm.

We are never orderly and when we are told to behave we get mad....

The problem with Nigeria is not and I repeat it's NOT the politicians.
The problem with Nigeria is "The Nigerians Mindset".

We want Nigeria to be like the sanner clins but we behave insane.

Are we going to import citizens who will behave on our behalf?

We call them sanner clines because the residents of those countries act sane...
