I was the first person to bring up this idea on Nairaland. I’ve been lamenting for years about skills acquisition from primary school. I’m glad the government is incorporating my ideas.

Now, they will mismanage the idea and scatter it like they scattered the education system with their in bred corruption. You will now be getting half baked "sorted" artisans everywhere.

Criminals.

Are you saying that we currently have exceptional artisans? I'm having trouble understanding your perspective—why are you so resistant to progress?

No we don't, but when criminals want to dabble into a situation that is not good, it is bound to worsen. That's my point. Never hope for anything good to come out of a bad situation.
Re: FG Introduces 15 Trades In New Basic Education Curriculum (October 2024) by nedu666: 9:51am On Dec 22, 2024
This is unnecessary. If you want to learn these skills, there are many artisans out there to train you. I don't know any higher institutions that teach students skills. So unless fed govt will train teachers to teach these skills, it's a waste of time. Even if you train teachers, you need experience to impact knowledge. You can learn pop installation, but it's experience acquired through several years that will help you. What the point in training teachers and students in pop installations if they don't get to practise it. At the end the boy who attaches himself to one oga who is getting regular pop jobs will be more experienced than teacher who teaches the course without practical

From cost perspective, most schools especially private teachers cannot afford to hire teachers or buy the tools needed for practical. Ex. Pop cement, GSM repair, tiles fixing. Which school will spend money on such

Unfortunately, Tinubu is selling hunger, strife, starvation, high petrol prices, high inflation rates, and the high cost of basic food items etc.
In fact, Tinubu is selling a short life and poverty.

Prophets of doom and gloom. God pass una.

A little advise you would have a better life if you choose to see things as at least half full rather than half empty since no one wants an empty life kwo.

Always be solution driven.

Don’t mind them they don’t want to learn skill but prefer to be nwa boys learning all the bad ways of doing business (including drug trafficking) and then not being funded by their oga after serving for the 9 years. But still they are the smart ones not.

Common sense is not so common.

The saints amongst sinners. Everything is avenue to loot funds.

It have do. Hence their region and Governors have a tall order from this prophets of doom and ungrateful souls who would always measure others by their own standards.

LandMann:
How old are you?

If you are below 30 then I'll understand why you are so stupid in believing a government who announces progress in future tense; we will, we shall, plans to...

A serious government will organise a stake holders forum and get the best ideas to make this work. Next the government will develop a well detailed and specific measurable plan of action. Next the government will train the teachers and set up all the facilities and infrastructure needed to make this work... After everything is in place, the government can then announce that from next term 2025 children will need to pick any skill to learn alongside their normal academic work across all public schools in Nigeria...

Instead of your useless corrupt government to follow the above process they'll keep announcing their plans and achievements on newspapers in future tense to sell false hope to the public while they use their announcement as avenue to further steal public funds.

If you believe this useless propaganda news from Tinubu's government then ask yourself;

1. 2025 is less than two weeks ago. Have you seen any changes to the infrastructure and facilities in public schools in your area to support the lies written in the above propaganda news?

2. Tinubu presented 2025 budget few days ago. Is there increase in budget for education in it and is all the plans in the propaganda news above captured in the 2025 budget?

3. Nigeria has a lot of technical secondary schools as well as skill acquisition centres run by the Nigeria Directorate of Employment NDE and both suffer severe lack of facilities and infrastructure to support their education, training and skills acquisition program... What is Tinubu's propaganda government doing to fix the existing problems there before they start this new white elephant project, if they ever actually start it?

I believe this propaganda news is just another avenue to loot public funds via inflated budgets for equipments and facilities that will eventually never be used for its intended purpose. This propaganda news is to make it appear like the newly appointed minister of education knows what he's doing when in actuality he doesn't know anything or isn't really interested in doing anything meaningful.

Stop helping a useless propaganda government spread their false hope and propaganda. Nigeria needs an action government, not a future tense based government.
