In 1999, ay the return of democracy, the Niger Delta states were demanding for resource control and 50% derivation.

The federal government gave the States 13% derivation, The agitations for resource control and even 50% derivation stopped but why?

The politicians and other fat cats were the primary beneficiaries of the derivation, especially in a state like Delta.

If you can't be faithful with 13%, is it with 50% you'll be faithful with?

What of that developmental agency tasked with building projects in the oil producing states? I have forgotten it's name. Most of the money meant for development was mismanaged through over priced contracts, and many projects were either not completed or even started at all.

What of the government parasta
You be talking about the nddc... That body is scraped now,I think... At stake was the Niger Delta but the body consisted of different tribes and was not really well funded.
Nddc that had galadimas,Abubakars, Abdullahs, kazeems, etc on its board, what do you expect?

What about opening the land borders for importation of rice.
Shouldn't you be producing rice instead of importing it? What is wrong with you black people, try and be productive

You don't get it. Mining never stopped but the activity was of no benefit to government and Nigerians as a whole the way everyone benefits from oil exploration in the Niger Delta.

What Buhari's ban did at best was empower his cronies and bandits to enrich themselves at the expense of our commonwealth. This suspension paves the way to overturn that.

name a country that doesn't import anything?

The food crops our people export to the UK and other countries, ain't that importation for those countries too, or you think some of those crops can't be cultivated there?
Since you closed the borders cos of your farmers, have they produced enough?? What has become the price of this same rice since you closed the borders white man? Even government themselves have plans to import paddy rice to cushion the effect of high cost of the food item, to also make it affordable and available for the mills in Nigeria, white man did you grow ithuh

Well spoken Sir.
Buhari messed up the mining sector in the North and regionalized it to his Fulani brother's. While all of them put their greedy eyes in the Niger Delta oil.
However I can still assure you that NIGERIA as a nation is still not benefiting from the mining in Nasarawa, Taraba, Jos, Bauchi and Zamfara.

They are still cheating the South.

If you still depend on subsistence farmers for a 220 million population, then the country will always be on the threshold of starvation; subsistence farmers cannot deal with the impending shock of climate change, insecurity and fluctuating Naira to fund their Agriculture production.

Agriculture is a science and requires investment in IT and mechanisation; this is one of the reasons why Zimbabwe is now a major food producer in Southern Africa. If you think importing food will sustain 200 million, then be prepared for more food inflation because Nigeria does not print dollars.

The country's external debt is $50 billion, and its export earnings are less than $30 billion.
