Good luck to Sharia promoters in Oyo town. That's home to some dogged traditionalists including Professor Wande Abimbola, a former vice-chancellor of OAU Ife. The town is also home to age-long christian families being the location of the then St. Andrew's College established by CMS in 1896 as one of first teacher training colleges in Nigeria. The catholic church in Oyo also has big families with the first mission established by SMA priests in 1884. The baptist churches are also very strong there with many families affilliated to Olivet Heights, a school established by American Southern Baptist Missions. These are very strong roots with sentimental.attachment with western powers alongside the Islamic presence.
