Nigeria is currently on 35,000km capacity, with 90,000km, that'd expand the capacity to 125,000km of fiber optic cable capacity. 33million Nigerians lack access to connectivity and that's a huge number that has to be drastically reduced. We need more coverage access across every space of the country, in the creeks, and ungoverned deserts. It would eliminate slow connectivity and low signal strength. Businesses would spread across as much as there're coverage expansion into remote areas. |

Fibre is good but : 1. We are broke as a country. 2. Vandalism. 3. The project lacks purpose and that's a recipe for looting. |

Shameless Government... No single Dignity at all. I think it's high time we protest against all these institutions dishing out loans to Nigeria. |

Fortune365:You guys talk as if borrowing is a demonic exercise. The loan is a single digit interest and we have the capacity of repaying. |

femisplash:No, you don't... Please, don't ever use 'repaying' and Nigeria in the same sentence. Check the records! If we ran a corruption-free system, I wouldn't be worried or bothered, as the system would be such that every penny would be accounted for, and the profits used to offset the loan within a few years. The money borrowed by Buhari for his white elephant projects won't be repaid in 3 generations. |

EpicDude123:You are just ranting. What's your problem with this project? If we all agreed that access to data is crucial for the next generation of digital opportunities, I think we need to support this critical infrastructure project and hold our leaders accountable for its proper execution. This is a project the youths will benefit immensely. |

For projects that barely bring forth profits? What exactly do you mean by defaulting in loans repayment in the last 5 years, or you don't understand what I posted?!! |

Look up our reserve, we can afford this. Fiber Optics are usually deep and will need special equipment to evacuate and vandalize. I will be shocked if they don't put things in place to prevent this given some Nigerians are highly skilled at vandalism (Niger Bridge 2 is a good example). I think the US usually lines some of these between highways with lots of traffic. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=geiTeKIncbg&t=310s I do agree we need more details. I will endeavor to watch the interview, and you should too. CodeTemplarr: |

Why not invite the stakeholders like MTN who will be the biggest beneficiaries to fund it via tax incentives? Why always loans? Or a PPP |

femisplash:Nope... You need to enlighten yourself on borrowing properly with proper debt profile management. If you run a business the way Nigeria is being run, it would be insolvent and bankrupt within a short time, and in that state you lose credit-worth. I raised clear points about your nation's penchant for recklessly borrowing as well not being capable of repaying or offsetting those debts, yet all you could come up with was a lame question lacking merit. Servicing debts to the point of non-profitability will destroy any business and economy anywhere on Earth, and that has been happening in this nation for decades! Especially when the loans are taken for ventures or projects that make no economic sense. While I believe Tinubu will do a better job than his idiotic and dull predecessor, there is still need for caution in borrowing Especially when we still run one of the most expensive governments on Earth for a nation so resource-depleted. By the way... Is Nigeria a top economy?!! Do our debts have a direct or even indirect reflection on economic growth?!! |
