I'm just curious. I bred a few for Christmas because since midyear there has been noise about how expensive chicken will be this year.

Some farmers are gearing to sell up to #20k for one broiler chicken. Right now old layers are going for about #9000 in Ibadan. What's your experience?

Last time I bought was around 1200. You could even get 900 or 1000 some places. A good sized broiler went for 4500-5000.


Roughly 4 years ago. The economy is really terrible now.

Food is supposed to be the most basic commodity.

Hard to believe!

Of course, it depends on the sizes/weights.

I'm sorry, no. But if you could move them to Ibadan in batches, I'm sure you would do good business this season. It's #10k now. But moving them is the problem

Na frozen chicken or turkey I go buy tomorrow. It's still quite cheap.

1kilo of frozen chicken in my area is 5,500. 1kilo of frozen turkey is 8k. Since it's just me, one or one and half kilo should be enough.

I can't start buying chicken above 20k.
