Softmirror:Forget. Doctors in Nigeria are grossly underpaid. In a country where the doctor to patient ratio is 1:9000. Forget, they should be getting what senators are getting. 😁 |

It seems Wike is doing a good job in Abuja and improving the infrastructure he met . Because even those who are Against him keep saying he is doing a good job despite any differences they have with him |

Edygrin:Nigerian doctors are the most selfish, residency training that is being sponsored by the government already, they'll be acting as if they're the only ones relevant in the health sector as if other health care professionals don't contribute, well the useless structure has favoured them from inception, what do you expect, when you have commisional for health, minister for health, chief medical director which is purely administrative role ,all occupied by doctors, something impossible in a saner clime. |
| Re: Abuja Doctors Give Wike Two Weeks To Meet Demands Or Face Hospital Shutdown by Susily(m): 7:58pm On Dec 23, 2024 |
bixton:Wike will straighten them out and who will suffer it?? Still the poor masses. Nigeria has a serious healthcare crisis on the brink of exploding and a lot of doctors have left the country and more about leaving If Wike employs new set of doctors without the basic problem addressed, the vicious cycle continues It is a case of two elephants fighting. It is the grasses(the citizenry) that will suffer it the most. Mind you, most of these doctors have their private practice, so it won't touch them much |
| Re: Abuja Doctors Give Wike Two Weeks To Meet Demands Or Face Hospital Shutdown by Susily(m): 8:00pm On Dec 23, 2024 |
ChiefOkporghe:Well, Nigerian doctors can indeed eat their cake and have it too. That's why they are leaving the country in droves. At whose detriment?? The citizenry So it's now left for the government to improve their remuneration or allow the vicious cycle to continue |

| Re: Abuja Doctors Give Wike Two Weeks To Meet Demands Or Face Hospital Shutdown by bixton(m): 8:10pm On Dec 23, 2024 |
Susily:The citizens have always been the people who suffer. I can't say if these doctors have made their issues formally known to the Minister before coming to the public. But that we will get from the Minister when he responds. Nevertheless, as governor, I can't remember any sector going on strike in his home State as long as they are State employees and I know as Minister, he will replicate that same no strike on his turf as best as he could. |
| Re: Abuja Doctors Give Wike Two Weeks To Meet Demands Or Face Hospital Shutdown by ChiefOkporghe: 8:23pm On Dec 23, 2024 |
Susily:The FG needs to remove subsidy on medical courses and provide the option of student loans for them. By the time they spend the first 10 to 15 years paying back the loan, the govt can then use the subsidy to invest in infrastructures and great working standards. Let them pay more to finish medical school and earn more to repay their loans. |

Edygrin:It' s not easy for someone to have worked for a whole 6 months without receiving payment for the work done, particular in this terrible economy. Even when the salaries are being paid, it's still difficult to survive with it. |

BrotherJapa:As in eh… we don see something. Imagine what the demands are. Payment if arrears of salaries/emoluments for last year and this year has ended, salaries that other workers must have collected. Doctors are demanding for payment of something owed them for nearly 2 years and Nigerians are convulsing about it, asking if they asked Wike? So they have to prostrate for him to pay them? We deserve any bad leader we get. Full stop |

Yong4ever:In the US and UK, residents are paid by the government, same as Nigeria. So what do you mean 'sponsored'? Also those governments pay those residents extra pay called Direct Medical Education(in the US) Your problem may also be ignorance or hate. Why do you hate docs so much? |
| Re: Abuja Doctors Give Wike Two Weeks To Meet Demands Or Face Hospital Shutdown by jaephoenix(m): 9:18am On Dec 24, 2024 |
ChiefOkporghe:Wtf are you talking about? As a medical student, I paid almost twice what other students paid in tuition. Some of my colleagues then had parents that sold land to train them. So when they graduate you want them to be earning peanuts ? How would they take care of those parents that sold land? If you say all university education is subsidized then your stupid suggestion should apply to IT Professionals who leave the country. Or do you think its only docs that leave? Also you forget many docs trained in private unis. So they should suffer the same too? You see why your brain is leaking and you're talking rubbish due to hate |
