President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said he does not regret removing the fuel subsidy immediately he assumed office on May 29, 2023.

He said made the swift decision to preserve Nigeria’s future and that of generation yet unborn.

The President stated this during the first presidential media chat aired by NTA on Monday.

Asked if he thought he should have phased the removal of the subsidy and floating of naira, Tinubu said, “Why should you have expenditure that you don’t have revenue to take care of. I don’t want to question people that drive Limousines on the road. We should teach management in all our programmes.

“There is no way we would give out fuel and allow all the entire neighbouring countries as father Christmas (to have our fuel). I don’t have any regret whatsoever removing the subsidy.”

The subsidy removal had led to astronomical hikes in the pump price of petrol from N195 per litre to arounf N1,000, leading to corresponding increases in transport costs and food prices and widespread hardship in the country.

One thing I like about Tinubu is how he never lost focus despite endless distractions.

Tinubu Nigerians are not interested in your damn no regrets. stop telling Nigerians what they know already. You don't need to tell Nigerians what you have regreted or not regreted. They can feel it. They see it . They know it. It is well known that you have no regret for your regressive policies.

Tell us what you have done or doing to reverse back fuel to where you met it, tell Nigerians what you are doing to make the exchange rate to the Dollar reasonable. Tell us whaT you arre doing about Inflation, insecurity so that you will not regret the curses Nigerians will lay on your head & that of your generations

Well, you are not expected to because you have corruptly insulated yourself from the negative effects of your incompetence.

If you were going to directly bear the consequences of your poorly thought out and implemented policies, I am certain you would have come up with proper plans to cushion the negative effects.

Besides, you are clearly a hypocrite because you kicked against the same subsidy removal 12 years ago. This shows you lack progressive foresight that benefits the masses but are loaded with cunning and self serving vision.
