Sorry to say this bitter truth. The West and North are very comfortable with this tradition of lining up begging. They troop to the residence of whoever they perceive to line up and beg for crumbs.
This tradition which is impoverished is also woven around the Muslims of the two regions, hence you see the Yorubas practice it without shame.

I'm not saying that people don't beg in the South South, but it is at almost zero percent level and not a tradition. Infact, it is a shame to the man or woman and the entire family for someone to beg for things you can provide for yourself and family especially when you are physically and mentally fit.

The Almajiri begging syndrome has gradually and steadily taken foothold in Yorubaland.

That is Ikoyi where diplomat and other nationals are more likely to see poor and hungry citizens camped in front of a sitting president's personal residence for alms. This is not good for any self-respecting Nigerian.
