Everything in this report suggests that the plane was most likely shot down as it was mistaken for a Ukrainian drone due to the fact that
1. The place where the crash occured was militarized by Russia.
2. Grozny was currently under attack as at the time of the crash.
3. The plane took a significant detour which in normal circumstances doesn't happen. This points to a GPS jamming. Mind you, the detour was in hundreds of miles. What the hell are you talking about. Why would a plane take such a very significant detour if not for GPS jamming.

Most times airdefenses doesn't work that way. They are not what you see in Hollywood movies, they operate by proximity fuse sending numerous shrapnel of various across a 50m radius.
Those shrapnel hitting engines, fuel areas and others is what is responsible for taking down an areal target.

The holes seen on this plane is consistent with airburst system. This is no engine explosion,
The whole back tail end is covered with hundreds of holes of high penetrating projectiles, and engine damage won't give you that.

All three points you just shared are a pile of horsesh*t.

1. The plane crashed in Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan is not militarized.
2. The Ukrainian drones were shot down over Vladikavkaz in North Ossetia and neighboring Ingushetia. Not in Grozny.
3. The plane took a detour for several reasons. One, the authorities in Grozny informed the pilots of fog. That's why they couldn't land in Grozny. GPS jamming does not automatically lead to detours. This is the NYT quoting an aviation journalist who states this

"According to Andrei Menshenin, an aviation journalist, GPS jamming and spoofing could make piloting uncomfortable but was unlikely to have caused the crash.

“Every day hundreds of planes fly though areas where GPS spoofing is happening,” he said in response to written questions.

The shoot-down theory has its merits.
1. Russia has deployed a new class of Air Defense systems for anti-drone warfare. These systems have smaller warheads that explode in proximity to their targets. When they explode, they release shrapnel.
2. The inward-piercing holes at the rear of the jet are consistent with shrapnel impact.
3. It is speculated that the shrapnels damaged hydraulics and electricals at the rear of the jet that made controlling the jet difficult.

There are lots of questions, which is why every normal person is waiting for an investigation. The jet flew for several more minutes after the accident. They couldn't return to Baku so the pilots made inquiries for any airport close by to make an emergency crash landing. They opted to cross the Caspian Sea to land at a Kazakh airport. And were about a few kilometers out when the crash occurred.

The pilots are heroes.

The rear of the jet is mostly intact, so there'll be definitive conclusion if indeed it was impacted by a Russian system.
