At least 15 banditry kingpins were killed by military operatives or rival bandits in 2024. Yet, the war on banditry may linger, taking the dimension of the more than a decade-long insurgency in the North-east.https://www.premiumtimesng.com/regional/nnorth-east/763630-analysis-despite-inflicting-heavy-losses-on-bandits-in-2024-nigerian-military-faces-daunting-task.html

This is a thorough editorial by Premium Times and much so instructive, indeed tough task lies ahead. The Service Chiefs must be proactive and change with changing tactics of the terrorists. The death of a leader resulting into splitter groups headed by new group leaders, gives me worries. Too close yet too far, in the long run, victory is assured. God bless Nigeria. |

What do you call heavy? I hope you know that the directive to "arrest" is still in force in the north while the SE has "shoot at sight" command. If you want to know, check that any victory announced in the north is mostly audio with blurry images while those in the SE has clear and crisp pics. We have 2 nations in one viz North and South on one hand; and Rich and Poor on the other |

The war on boko haram can never be won. It's more of politics than religion. Sadly, the federal government knows their sponsors but because they too are protecting their interest, they'd look the other way and allow the masses to continue to suffer. The VP can't swear by whatever he believes in, that he never funded boko haram. If they can nab yahoo boys and trace the funds they received from their victims in less than 24 hours, why has it taken forever to nab boko haram sponsors? UAE tried to help us by exposing and jailing some of them but the federal government, instead of thanking them, said the suspects weren't given a fair hearing. Nigeria's problem isn't about religion per se. It's purely leadership. UAE is 100% Islamic, they met Nigeria on the way and left it far behind. America is another country. We don't worship God like the Americans do. It's only winners and redeemed we see as mega churches in Nigeria. There are hundreds of them in America during which millions of dollars are being donated in each service. Their revival will fill up a stadium to the brim. I can count only 3-4 pastors who own private jets in Nigeria. In America, they're uncountable. Above all these, they're sincere, follow the bible to the letter. They give to members and non members who are in need. They give scholarships, even to africans who wish to school in America. Many of the awardees or scholars don't even know those behind the scholarships awarded to them. I'm one of the beneficiaries and I strive to do the same in my life time. UAE is the seat of rich Arabs who can buy many states in Nigeria. Once we get leadership right, religion will bring us prosperity as everyone will sit up. You'd not collect poor members money and use it to buy jeeps. Ask ashimolowo what the UK govt did to him on members offerings he used. Leadership says it all. God bless Nigeria. |

This is food that Northern Nigeria has been cooking for more than fifty years, it's just getting done now... The entire Nigeria will join them in eating it unless we can find a way to split this country into its component regional nationalities. Unfortunately, APC is too busy stealing to pay attention to what's going on |

Rival groups killed more bandits than the military, while the military was busy bombing villages and innocent Nigerians. So if a community harbour bandits, according to the Chief of defense staff, the best approach is to bomb the entire village for "harbouring bandits and criminals" Mind you, these villagers do not have the means to push out the bandits and criminals because they are held hostage in their villages while some pay dues and levy, the military in their wisest decision, bombed those villages and claimed it was not a mistake. This is very shameful, even tho we all know they military is a loss in the war against bandits and insecurity, so admitting to such mistake means they are bereft of ideas on how to end the menace of bandits, especially when such mistake is one too many |

Tinubu has passed the message, no mercy for terrorists. The era of arresting them has long gone. Kill and bomb them and their loved ones Those ones still breathing will soon meet their makers |

Murtala Ahmad-Rufa’i, a researcher on banditry in northern Nigeria, wrote that Mr Sububu “greatly influenced” over 46 out of more than 80 bandit camps across the North-west region. So banditry in the north is now a research topic,so somebody will definitely earn a Ph.D in banditry and insurgency over there, and these two should be incorporated into curricula in the north. |
