He makes a valid point about some of the irresponsible actions of a few parents.

I was watching a pastor on TV yesterday tell a story of how his church's foundation organized a program to gift needy kids one year like that in a venue and discovered parents forcefully shoving their children through the locked gate's railings.

After that experience he said they switched sharply to using open fields for future initiatives of that nature.

People in Nigeria too lack that culture of queuing up calmly for things be it buying fuel (I'm guilty of this), receiving souvenirs at parties or collecting palliatives.

I totally get what you're saying. But let's be real—who among today's Nigerian youths or even Nigerians in general wouldn't just turn off the tap and walk away with N160 million? That kind of money is something over 90% of people can only dream about in their lifetime, so it's totally possible. Sure, if he does walk away with it, he is defo poor in spirit, but I've seen folks who are supposedly in way better positions than him do it for much less.

You are very correct , people have turned off the tap on sums that are way lesser than N160m sef .

I’ve seen bankers who earn decent salaries , have access to mortgage financed by the bank and doing well for themselves financially still immersing themselves into stupiid fraud that ended their career .

Shebi, you’re talking about bank workers, right? Those ones are still employees. I’ve seen wealthy employers of labour do the same for way less, not to mention young online hustling activists with no work history as an adult. I’m pretty sure over 50% of Nigerians would grab that money and waka!

Just last week a friend was still telling me how he was trying to raise funds amongst the youth in their church to bail a youth member who was arrested by the police.

The lady was arrested because she's the admin for an ajo/esusu contribution group. They would contribute funds and each member will pack the contribution based on whatever number they fall under. Being the admin she is in charge of disbursing funds to whoever's turn it was to pack the funds.

She disbursed to a member who was number 2 and that one just exited the group, blocked her everywhere and was nowhere to be found. The funds was around 400k. Being the admin of the group, the other members believe she must provide the member that ran off with the funds without planning to pay back.

So the police arrested the admin and it was her church members that were running around to have her released and even provide the N400k to the other members who have vowed to deal with the admin except she produces the thief and thier funds.

Imagine someone running off with 400k without even thinking they might decide to track her and make life miserable for her? Does that person even care about her soul is being judged?

I was being even generous when I said 90% because I know there are Nigerians living outside the country who still consider themselves Nigerians and are doing really well. If I focus only on Nigerians based in Nigeria and am strict with my numbers, I would raise that figure to 98% or more. I'm not trying to be derogatory in any way; I'm just stating facts!
