NTSA:some back story... During Kenya's military intervention in Somalia in 2012, Madobe emerged as an ally. Kenyan forces worked with his Ras Kamboni Brigade, a militia opposed to Al-Shabaab, to capture and stabilize the strategic port city of Kismayo in September 2012. With Kenyan backing, Madobe became the leader of Jubaland, a semi-autonomous region in southern Somalia, and has been the de facto president ever since. Recently, the Somali central government deployed Turkish-trained Gorgor troops to Ras Kamboni to overthrow the regional president. with their supply lines cut and without air support. They surrendered en mass this morning after clashes with Jubaland forces. Here they are pictured crossing over into kenya

NTSA:Jeez they can't even finish with one enemy first before starting another clan war. For a country that speaks one language, this is so sad. |

Fidha254:Something wrong with Somalian Somalis mentality wise and culturally. The rest of Africa has tribe/ethnic, linguistic, and religious problems while they have multiple clan problems. Even diaspora Somalis have problems against other Africans; West Africans, Bantus, Nilotes, and Ethiopians. |

It's cyclone season and once again the Mozambican kakistocracy hasn't done any advance planning and preparation. FRELIMO only seems to be good at stealing elections and looting the country. https://www.businesslive.co.za/bd/world/africa/2024-12-17-cyclone-chido-wreaks-havoc-in-mozambique/ |

Jimmy Carter, who died at 100 years old today, was an ally of the peoples of Southern Africa against their racist oppressors, as well as the poor and suffering worldwide, whether in Africa or Palestine. He was keenly aware of the limitations of the American political system and the challenges of enacting meaningful change within it. In its obituary, Mondoweiss noted that Carter is fondly remembered by many on the left, and for good reason. "In many areas, he tried to govern with humanity, decency, and a deep regard for people’s rights. While he was not always successful—whether due to his own shortcomings or the constraints of the system—Carter is notable for bringing principles of human rights into his policy thinking more than any other U.S. president in living memory, and quite possibly in all of American history." On Southern Africa, the administrations of Nixon, Ford, and Reagan were all staunch supporters of apartheid and white minority rule. Chester Crocker, the Reagan administration's highest-ranking official on African affairs, infamously remarked, “All Reagan knows about Southern Africa is that he is on the side of the whites.” Reagan was caught on tape telling a laughing Nixon that Africans are "monkeys." In stark contrast, Carter took significant steps to challenge apartheid and side with African liberation movements. He reinstated an economic boycott of Rhodesia, and pressured Ian Smith to hold democratic elections in 1979 and negotiate with the black majority. These efforts ultimately contributed to the creation of Zimbabwe. He also backed UN Resolution 418, which imposed an arms embargo on apartheid South Africa. Finally, working with Howard Wolpe, he called for transparency in the dealings of US intelligence services. RIP.

GreenandGold:Oh, you have burglary proofs on your windows now? I thought its a practice unique to Nigeria. Since when did you start that practice in SA? |
| Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by GreenandGold: 5:17pm On Jan 02, 2025 |
MiddleDimension:Honestly, it comes with the neighborhood. Some places have had burglar-proof doors and windows since forever, others simply don't have them... basically, the richer the neighborhood, the less likely to have them. On this particular neighborhood, I think the doors being so close to the road has given them some break in problems, or at least attempts. |
| Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by AskiaHarem(m): 6:14pm On Jan 02, 2025 |
MiddleDimension:Burglary proof windows are EVERYWHERE in the “developing world” even robust economies like China has them around even on some highrise buildings. |

AskiaHarem:I did not see a single burglary proof when I was there. But its possible they may have them. |
| Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by MiddleDimension: 6:56pm On Jan 02, 2025 |
GreenandGold:Here, we don't only have burglary proofs, we also have perimeter fences made of bricks and giant metal gates. Not only that, we also have barbed or electric wires on top of the fences. But you are right. usually, the richer the neighbourhood, the less likely you are suppose to find such security measures; nut in Nigeria, these measures started with the rich then it became a standard among most people. It is such that even in Banana Island, the houses are fences! Eko Atlantic city is fenced all round.
