I will say 99% of Nigerians will never own such money in their lifetime.

I don't want to use the word see. Cos it might mean seeing other people's money
Do you believe up to 10% of Nigerians are worth that amount?

We have a number problem in this country, u see a lot of people saying N160m is not much but if u ask them how many people do they know that has seen such amount of money they can't point to any within their close circle
Una no serious. You think those people selling customatic items, building materials, human hairs, electronics, phones and gadgets etc are not worth more than that grin grin grin By worth, I mean aggregate net worth.

In the East, it is very common to see 20 decent looking duplexes within a small community.

Na joke abi una really think say up to 20k Nigerians no worth 160M?

If you make 5million yearly for 30years that's about 150milllion. The spending/Earning part is very much realistic.
How many Nigerians d make 5 million yearly? How many?

The problem is u are doing the wrong maths.

Diggz said 90% of Nigerians would not see ₦160m in their lifetime. That means just a paltry 10% of the population will see ₦160m in their lifetime.

10% of 200million population is 20 million people. The question you should be asking me is if I believe that up to 20 million Nigerians are worth ₦160m and above. My answer to that question will be an emphatic NO!

I don't know where u got Ur 20k Nigerians figure from o.

How many Nigerians do u actually think make up to ₦5m yearly legitimately? If Nigerians make as much as u are assuming, do u think our general standard of living will be this poor?

I believe so.

How does hacking an NGO website which is not a transactional website lead to money being moved from a bank account?

Why did the hackers (fraudsters) wipe N160m and leave N20m?

Why didn't he accuse Zenith Bank of laxity and complicity in the whole drama?

Why hasn't Zenith bank released a statement about the missing funds?

Too many questions and holes in the story.

VDM dey dabble in irrelevancies and dey gba sometimes but hin no be mumu.

I am leaning towards it being a hoax.

Make we dey watch.
So claiming one of the perpetrators has been arrested is also a prank?

Issokay o, he should keep ranking the few people that still take him serious online; soon he will lose relevance with those people too.

Even Punch newspaper has reported the story of the N160m missing. Hope he knows the so called prank will blow in his face sooner or later

He makes a valid point about some of the irresponsible actions of a few parents.

I was watching a pastor on TV yesterday tell a story of how his church's foundation organized a program to gift needy kids one year like that in a venue and discovered parents forcefully shoving their children through the locked gate's railings.

After that experience he said they switched sharply to using open fields for future initiatives of that nature.

People in Nigeria too lack that culture of queuing up calmly for things be it buying fuel (I'm guilty of this), receiving souvenirs at parties or collecting palliatives
You are inadvertently making my point.

The organisers are not Martians, they're Nigerians.

They should have factored in our unruliness, disorderliness, anyhowness, the prevailing hunger and hardship in the country into their planning and anticipated the upsurge in attendance.

I mean, how do you organize a christmas funfair, publicize it massively on radio, declare free entry, promise gifts and scholarship to a lucky few, and anticipate only 5000 attendees?

Ko possible! The entire Ibadan will besiege the venue of the event, and that's exactly what happened.

The only way the organizers could have limited and controlled the number of attendees was to have monetized the gate entry.

Tickets should have been sold (at a subsidized rate) weeks/days to the event and that way only kids with tickets are allowed into the venue with one accompanying parent/guardian which should be stated on the ticket.

(I digress, but this is what my church which is reputed to organize the best, and most anticipated children christmas party in my city does every year, and there has never been a stampede or rowdiness. Tickets were sold at 2k per child, and I purchased for my 3 kids.

The turnout this year was unprecedented but the protocol people set up the ticket check-in points some distance from the church entrance, and only people with tickets were passed through).

Back to the Naomi-Ibadan stampede Issue - From the number of sold tickets, the organizers can estimate the number of attendees for planning purposes, and those without tickets would have stayed away from the venue . No parent wey no buy tickets go get the mind and morale to dress up kids, and take them to a party to avoid embarrassment.

Lastly. like you opined an open venue/field should have been used for the funfair event since entrance was free and it was "gbogbo ero".

The planning was shoddy and 35 people are dead as a result.

Parents/families have been thrown into grief and mourning.

Like I stated earlier, Naomi and Hamzat OriyomI ordeal is only temporary. They'll be released eventually and will be alright at the end of the day.

But l cannot absolve the Organizer(s) of blame in this issue.

I do not absolve the organizers of blame for the tragedy that happened, but the parents also have a fair share of the blame as well. No parent should be throwing his or her kids over the fence simply because of Christmas gift

That's what I've being saying, How can you possibly prank an entire nation? If the money involved was yours to begin with, then that's a different story. since the funds belong to charity, it's unacceptable to toy with people's intelligence and trust.

Playing a prank with someone else's money damages trust and credibility. It's essential to respect people's intelligence and financial investments, rather than using them for a prank.
So I don't think it's a prank

Yeah let's agree I messed up the math, though i wanted to type 20m. But then, we are not even nearly up to 200M in this country but let's put that aside.

I agreed initially when he said Nigerian youth but saying 10% of the general population isn't worth it or won't ever worth it is fallacy at best. So when we calculate value of assest one has, what they are likely to make as well as spend in their lifetime, it still won't amount to 160M ?

If that is correct, then who are the landlords of all the buildings in Nigeria Metropolis? Let's not talk about decent houses in rural areas. These houses are easily worth 160M if sold today.

The problem u are having is that u are using a small subset of the entire population to represent the whole population.

What U are doing is like u using the data of affluent people living in Ikoyi, Lekki and VI axis to judge the pocket of the the entire Lagosians; it doesn't work that way at all.

It's like saying Lagos has 15 million residents and u look at the houses in Lekki, VI, and Ikoyi and u assume over 1.5 million Lagosians ar worth ₦160m and above.

The finance minister says only about 5% of Nigerians have 500k and above in their bank accounts, yet u think there's money somewhere because of few nigerians putting up blocks of flat. Have u even been to the north, some inner southern states and see the level of poverty there?

No way 20M Nigerians don't worth or won't worth 160M in assest already owned, income yet to be made and expenses already incurred. This is more like an insult to Nigerians please. Do you even realize that 160M was 40M equivalent in 2019. Omo!!!

U are just inventing figures in Ur head.

Let's use Lagos for example. Go through the link and see figures concerning the housing challenge in Lagos.

https://nairametrics.com/2022/02/26/three-numbers-that-show-you-how-bad-the-housing-deficit-in-lagos-really-is/?amp=1

Lagos which is one of the most populous state in the country( with about 23 million people) and has just 1.49m houses....I can bet u that majority of those houses are not even worth anything close to ₦160m. Bar for houses situated in the few highbrow areas of Lagos like Lekki, VI, Ikoyi, Ikeja, Magodo, etc; the majority houses are not worth all those figures u are exaggerating.

If do the same for other states like Rivers, Cross River, Abia, etc u will see that Ur figures will fall flat on its face.

Nobody is insulting Nigerians, u are the one who thinks Nigerians are richer than tey really are. And don't forget there are individuals like Emefiele, Tinubu, Atiku, Osinbajo, Peter Obi, etc who own several houses In different parts of the country.

So there are at least 1 million different house owners in Lagos, add the value together with all their other income from work, business, rent etc and sum it up with all their expenses and you think they haven't seen up to 160M.

Lagos is generally a metropolitan state all through and it wouldn't be unheard of to value a house at an average of 100M.

If the smallest state has over a million different house owners, how much more other bigger states.

In a country where the minimum wage is still less than 100k, if you believe that 90% of the population will ever see N160 million (including both taxed and untaxed), then you might as well believe that I built the Third Mainland Bridge and still collect tolls from it. I rest my case.
