Many single mothers do not actually have dead beat baby daddies. Some cheated, some of their men are dead or in prison, some single mothers deny their baby daddies access to their children. However, the truth is that a wise woman with a male child as a single parent will ensure that the child has a father figure in his life. It could be a brother, her father or other responsible relatives.

A true father figure would have advised against such extravaganza on a child that doesn't know the value yet.

Children don't know the value of gifts. They only value experiences.

Over indulgent mum will soon start complaining when her child feels entitled to everything she sees and wants. Children learn more by sight than by what you say. He'll expect this and more as he grows.

That is so very wrong, my postgraduate dissertation was focused on children outdoors play and children in prehistoric times played with toys made from suncaked muds, sticks, stones, clay, wood, etc.

See a broke ass advising a rich and caring mother, Are we in an academic session or a festive period? Just because you cannot spoil your child because you are poor doesn't mean you have the right to criticize a mother who decides to spend so much for her child.

Smart parents prefer buying toys to the Nigerian solution - put the child in front or a TV or tablet

Also the woman may be winding ignorant Nigerians because it is possible she is posing the child with gifts bought by family, friends, neighbours and Co workers

Edit - looking at the picture again the woman has the typical Nigerian problem. Presents under a tree are normally wrapped. So this woman either bought presents and is so bush that she did not know they should be wrapped or she unwrapped them and placed them under the tree

This is just some poverty minded Nigerian desperate to oppress. If there was a picture of the child gleefully scattering and unpacking the presents with cardboard and wrapping paper everywhere - but all I see here is a child posed with boxed toys. Almost feels like this is all staged for content

And the more toys a child has, the quicker he comes bored of them. The less toys, he can explore and be creative about their use.

I hope he doesn't grow up to become a non-committal mam because he is seeking the next thrill.

Too much trash. My kid keeps getting toys from different family members and barely plays with any of them or they break easily as they are cheap made in China things. Our house is full of clutter and I just think of the environmental pollution excessive consumerism causes. I will go and donate some of the stuff to an orphanage.

My child loves playing with us more than with any of these toys. Quality time is what makes children loved and smart, materialism not so much.
