On Dec 29, 2024 local time, the National Fire Agency said "Of the 181 passengers on the crashed aircraft, all are presumed dead except for 2 survivors."

A Jeju Air Boeing 737-800 series aircraft crashed at Muan International Airport in South Korea at 9:07 AM on Dec 29, 2024, local time.

This aircraft was manufactured in August 2009 as a 737-8AS with 189 seats. The aircraft's age is classified as relatively new at 15 years.

The reported cause of the crash was a malfunction of the landing gear.

In my own layman's mind, I'm wondering that if it's just malfunction of the landing gear, shouldn't the crash occur close to when they're about to land and as such at a reduced altitude with less casualties?

Landing gears do malfunction at times. This is an unforeseen situation beyond the control of the pilot. May their souls find eternal rest. God forbid such a thing happens in Nigeria, some obedients, especially the alaba and ariaria sector with cheap tecno, and rabid Tinubu haters would have been spitting like village goats.

He slammed on a concrete wall, which was not even suppose to be there,
Going of the runway was his best option
After carefully analyzing the video, the front landing gear for steering was also never deployed, it was not possible to go off the runway
