Instead of providing evidence, he’s seeking for public sympathy that won’t help in the court..

Provide evidence Mr man. It’s the only thing that can help you thru. You don’t make heavy allegations when you’ve got no evidence.

Those who are supporting him (Dele Farotimii ) i have asked them times without numbers, if they were in Afe Babalola's shoes, would they have allowed someone to just tarnish name they have built for years without fighting back. Non of them have given answer.
Precisely. Same response I gave below to an ignorant idiot defending Farotimi blindly. They are all losers. If they are winners like Babalola, would they support the rise of an anarchic society where, without consequences, someone can use lies and fabrication to damage the reputation of others and perhaps even destroy their ability to earn or run their business?

Only losers with nothing to lose support the actions off Farotimi. Abi we have seen the likes of Elumelu, Otedola, Adenuga, Dangote, Bua etal speaking in support of Farotimi?

UltraSolid:
Dullard. Does the law allow Babalola to bring defamation charges against Farotimi or not? Simple yes or no please bearing in mind Farotimi has admitted he will fight the case meaning the defendant recognises the charge as legally in order while a mumu like you is here talking ignorantly about Abacha and Hitler.

Truth is that you are a loser. Easy to tell because losers and failures do not defer to fact or humble themselves before rule of law provusions applicable to all.

Those who are winners know the implication of a lawless society as they have a lot to lose. Losers and failures disregard the law because they have nothing to lose and are not winning in life so lawless and anarchical society is fine by them.

Simple. If he can't, then he should accept whatever punishment the court issues against him and learn his lesson.
No sentiment my brother.

If his proof can put another person to shame,
His lack of proof should be able to make him sell the whole of his life and destiny to pay damages.

Law is for both, not for only dele

You are a kid bro, defamation is civil law. Who told you I am Igbo. Go and check my house near Fashola at Onala. grin grin grin grin
deformation is not 100% civil law. Pls do more research on this. Thank you.

Defamation is indeed considered both a civil and criminal offense in Nigeria. Under the country's laws, defamation is defined as any written or printed article published about a person without lawful justification or excuse, exposing them to public contempt, scorn, ridicule, shame, or disgrace ¹.

Criminal Defamation Laws
The Criminal Code, specifically sections 373-376, and the Penal Code, sections 391-395, outline the criminal aspects of defamation. According to these laws, anyone found guilty of publishing defamatory matter can face imprisonment for up to two years or a fine ² ¹ ³.

Civil Defamation Laws
In civil cases, defamation is considered a tort, allowing individuals to seek damages for harm to their reputation. The Nigerian courts have established guidelines for proving defamation, including showing that the words were defamatory, referred to the plaintiff, and were published to at least one person other than the plaintiff ¹ ³.

Notable Sections of the Law
- *Section 373 of the Criminal Code*: Defines defamation as matter likely to injure a person's reputation.
- *Section 375 of the Criminal Code Act*: States that publishing defamatory matter can lead to imprisonment for one year.
- *Section 39(1) of the 1999 Constitution*: Guarantees freedom of expression, but allows for limitations due to libel, slander, or injurious falsehood.

Overall, Nigeria's laws recognize defamation as a serious offense, punishable under both civil and criminal jurisdictions..

Nigerians are the most manipulative Negros on earth. Sir don't worry, it's cos those fighting against you have not used religious angle to confuse your supporters.
If a whole presidential candidate can because of religious sentiment delete his comment against the barbaric murder of Esther in the north, you think if they gather them in their meeting places and condemn you, they won't fall for it? Nigeria s are the weakest when it comes to falling for manipulative control.

Hmmm...as a lawyer, he of all people should know that the must provide evidence to defend his claims especially since he pointed some serious fingers at powerful people. We all know the legal system in Naija is a sham....But we can't just point fingers without some serious proofs.

Canjugbe abi wetin that ex Kano governor name caught receiving dollars is walking free despite the body of evidence against him....Dele come think his word is enough evidence against a whole SAN. Abeg, na naija o....no be oyinbo country where crimes are taken seriously.

Dullardly kid calling his intellectual superiors names. What is a ignorant loser and koboless nigga like you on about when the defendant, himself a lawyer, has accepted the legality of the suit to then submit himself to fighting it in Court? Why is Farotimi not fighting the legality of the criminal charges against him if no legal ground exist for filing them?

Farotimi, a lawyer, accepts he is facing a criminal charge while loser on Nairaland, who managed to finish primary school, insist otherwise. This is the problem with Nigeria today. I.e illiterates like you, VDM, etal deceiving other illiterates

Most of the people promoting ethnic hate are doing so for sake of power and control of Nigerian resources. The reason for several ethnic tensions and even insecurity in recent years was because Igbos were meant to produce President in 2023 based on every agreement from all Nigerians in 1999 so in order to thwart it tribal tension was created and separatist movements fueled to justify moving it back to Southwest instead of keeping to our rotational agreement.

You are typical of the example of Nigerians our nation should bin if it is seeking progress citizens must contribute to. "Born throway" Patience Jonathan tagged your sort.

Shown, beyond the shadow of doubt, that you spoke ignorantly and in incorrectly you continue to argue foolishly simply because you hate Tinubu or others you feel are "tyrants" persecuting Farotimi unjust whereas Nigerian law is clear on his action and the possible premises of trial.

I ask you again, why is Farotimi, an experienced Lawyer, submitting to the legality of the criminalcharge against him while a Dullard like you is insisting "tyrants" are trying him unjustly?
Imagine a worthless and uncouth layabout like you in any influential leadership position?
