Don't get upset. I know any discussion about churches easily stirrs emotional reaction from you guys. But, can you genuinely answer these questions:

1) which of the multinational church corporations in Nigeria audits their account with the services of external and international auditing firms such as Deloitte, PWC, etc

2) how many of the multinational church corporations have you ever seen their yearly financial report published on their church magazine, their website or on a national daily before. Every other organizations registered under law publishes financial reports for transparency and accountability.

3) how many churches work on a yearly budget basis - a budget seen by its members and vetted by a committee that has non-yes daddies in it's membership

4) have you ever seen a breakdown of how much your own church generates from various channels such as YouTube, magazines, tithes, donations, etc before?

Religious organizations activities are opaque generally in Nigeria. That's why you have pastors diverting church fund to private real estate businesses like the one currently accused by efcc.

You sheeps enable prevention of transparency and accountability in your respective churches . But when law enforcement wades in, the entire body of Christ is embarrassed by a problem you could have prevented by just being transparent and accountable in management of public fund

the real reason or how do I put it now. What born accountability is lack of trust.Or let me say,the real root of accountability is lack of trust,!Now imagine as a congregation you all trusts and believe in your G.O.

Re: Why No Accountability In Churches? by Vulcanheph(m): 12:46pm On Dec 30, 2024
Nigerian christians are the most guillible set of people in the world....
These are very credible questions we need to be asking because most pastors have now turned churches into business ventures that's why there are so many churches in this country, and the fact that religious organizations like church and mosques don't pay taxes like most countries do have caused the number of churches to increase .
As someone who hardly goes to church.... Wetin concern me.

Did anyone ask you to forcefully donate or how does a collection of private individuals contributing to the religious inclinations constitute public monies ?

Now I can see why it's a decoration.u know I meant money contributed by the public

No one has the right to collect donations from everybody and become rich.It is regulated. It is unregulated in Nigeria that's why one man and his sons are flying PJ and you are here defending them.In western countries, they will be sitting in jail

bro, I have never been to the west but by reading the internet everyday, I know some of these things. I think laziness to read, Inexposure and poor university education has left millions of our people incapacitated. Too many cannot reason or see beyond their immediate pecuniary needs or beyond their local cultures/environment

2 of Nigeria big name pastors had problem in UK and USA for opaque financial dealings. One sold his books in the USA and asked for fund to be repatriated. The books were clearly marked not for sale to evade taxes. His pastor in the USA took advantage of that to involve law enforcement and break out. Happened many years ago. The other opened his business arm in the UK by registering his school as non profit to evade tax and was banned from the UK.

What we think is normal in Nigeria is abnormal everywhere else. But as the bible say, my people perish for lack of knowledge

NGOs have this obligation because they ask monies from everyone saying that they must use it to achieve a certain good purpose.

So, they would be liars, deceivers and thieves if they do not use that money for the purposes it was given. That is why NGOs are accountable.

But churches are set up only for private spiritual purposes, so whether they are given money or not they are within their law of set up

This is simply a matter of the king of the land (legal) said so and not a matter of Law which is of right and wrong.

Here, the king of that land has only commanded that monies exceeding any amount he determines, a portion of it (tax) must be taken by him.

And here no one is seeing that the king is taking that which does not belong to him aka stealing under Law, so he too is guilty of wrong doing.

What should be the sole purpose of church finances apart from church building projects and equipments?
Is it for pastors or for charity or to fund church activities such as paying resident full-time pastors their salaries ?

At the time when church buildings and equipments are fully acquired, what should church money used for, according to the law ?

Clearly understanding and then understanding English is one of your problems and your second problem is that you are too accustomed to the popular foolishness that intelligence is now too strange to you. 😁

Go and ask someone intelligent to break it down for you and maybe after that you can find something reasonable to say in counter and I can now understand why you object to my view. cheesy
