Obasanjo Should Apologise To Tinubu For Saying Refineries Will Not Work by jazzman7711(op): 11:34pm On Dec 30, 2024
I remember this man giving an interview a few months ago, in which he loudly asserted that the refineries being fixed at the time by the Tinubu administration ''will never work''.

But today we are seeing a different story, as the refineries ROAR BACK TO LIFE.

Excerpt:

''Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said the four oil refineries in Nigeria will never work. The four refineries are located in Warri, Port Harcourt and Kaduna. Obasanjo said the refineries will never work as long as the government continues to hold onto them.

The former president who stated this in an interview with The Cable Online Newspaper, said Shell Oil Development Company turned down his offer to them to run the refineries.

He disclosed that after much persuasion the managing director of Shell, at the time, listed four reasons why the oil company wouldn’t get involved in running Nigeria’s refineries, including “too much corruption in refineries.”''

Refineries are working and prices are higher than when it wasn’t working makes common sense to only an Agbado. Those non functional refineries are conduit pipe to continue siphoning dollars from the scarce reserves to import fuel. Bookmark my post price of fuel will never come down but will continue going up because it will continue to be controlled by price of dollars locally . Mark it somewhere . Nigeria have entered a pit toilet of no return under clueless tinubu

They are producing everything but petrol, I'm sure petrol don't stay that long when boiling. I don't have answers yet but it's fishy to me.

Obasanjo's opinion on the refineries matter is inconsequential. He is not the one to decide for Nigerians

If the refineries are working as we hear through the APC media, why has the price of the refined products not gone down?

You must be living in a cave and not aware government was paying subsidy to keep prices low

My bad, should have known you won't know the meaning of subsidy

Tinubu said he removed subsidy himself May 29th that it was gone. Fuel was 600 before the hunger protests by Hausas and Yorubas after that dangote announced his refinery is now working and fixed the price above 1k naira from 600 naira a few weeks earlier. People shouted and he shaved of like 30 naira from the price. Not long after NNPC took a cue from dangote’s game and announced that moribund refineries that had not been serviced since time of Abacha are now working so as to use them as a conduit for fuel importation to deceive brain dead fools like you… Seems like the memory and brain of you people is smaller than that of a seven year old child and the reason people keep saying Agbado have zero IQ

Whether his opinion is 'inconsequential' or not is not the point.

He publicly stated it could not be done.

Now it's been done.

So he needs to be a man, and stand up and say ''I was wrong, Mr President. Thanks for resuscitating our refineries. Good job.''

Simple, common decency.

Yet he carries bible everywhere claiming to be a priest or whatever.

No be only Obasanjo, some Nigerians too need to apologize to president Tinubu for their reckless and baseless criticisms about the policies of his government.

Buhari fixed those refineries. Credit goes to Buhari. Tinubu has not achieved anything since he became President 2 years ago.

Running a company and breaking even isn't the same thing.

Saying that a company can't work simply refer to its profitability and not the company going into operation.

I had to explain this for context purposes to politically exposed ignoramuses.

If the refinery eventually works to the fullscale, i think buhari deserves the credit.

A company that can't break even can't run, you are so informed you don't even this.

Government will never subsidise petroleum products again. Live with that. Ask your brothers in US and UK how much they buy petrol and diesel

I remember telling someone on that thread that our refineries can and will work if the government of the day wants them to function.. Refinery operation is not rocket science, with turnaround maintenance and major system upgrades, they will go live.
Obj should be ignored, a man that failed to reform the power sector when he had the chance, couldn't give account of huge sums declared missing.
Listen to Fela's songs well and you'd know the kind of person the man is.. I won't be surprised if he is part of those benefitting from petroleum subsidy payments.
One day Nigeria will be delivered from the hands of vultures.

Have you ever run a company before to understand what profitability and efficiency are all about? As an Engineering planner in Unilever, you can ask me why Unilever produced Omo detergent for 40 years without breaking even until after 2002 when Engineer Nwakuche took over the Factory's Engineering management and the company lost the magic when we left and by 2023, the brand closed production in Nigeria.

Most of you would've been privileged to learn one or two things in academics and running functional companies in Nigeria but with no humility and always have opinions about what you lack working experience and expertise, you lost the conversation because I am out.

Are you implying that the fixed refineries is bad investment?.. you feel subsidy payments on imported petroleum products is much better?
Feel free to enlighten us biko.

I not looking for reduction in fuel price for Nigerians, I'm more focused on increasing the purchasing power and livelihood of Nigerians, if you know basics, you wouldn't be talking about fuel prices but rather a huge increase purchasing power.

if you know basic economics I wouldn’t need to tell you how fuel price is attached to purchasing power and what happens to an economy if either one tilts on the balance of an economy

If we are both seated in an economic class, I'm sure you won't come close to besting me.
U are all wise, enlightened and well informed the moment you are on phones, tablets and laptops.
A civil servant earning #40,000 when fuel price was #300, if fuel starts selling for #900 and he earns #150,000 is his purchasing power reduced?
If his earning increases to #200,000 is his purchasing power reduced?
U all claim to know too much, I guess everyone was living large when was #10/L.

Why is Olusegun Obasanjo battered that Port Harcourt refinery is working.

Olusegun Obasanjo as president failed to revive our refineries and is now bitter and angry just because Tinubu did what he could not do.
