Nigerians have showered President Bola Tinubu with congratulations for setting a shining example of leadership after the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP) crowned him the third most corrupt person on Earth. This achievement comes just eight years after former British Prime Minister David Cameron famously described Nigeria as "fantastically corrupt."

Thanks are also pouring in for investigative journalist David Hundeyin and the ever-patriotic blogger Reno Omokri for their efforts in showcasing Tinubu's colorful history as a drug lord in Chicago, which helped boost his ranking.

"Give us our flowers! It’s no small feat to claim third place across seven continents," said Zach, who clearly has his eye on the prize for next year.

AfricanGiantPride, the nation's most forward-thinking media outlet, has already called for a public holiday in honor of Tinubu's success, citing his "invaluable contributions to the global corruption ecosystem." The holiday would include nationwide street parties and a ceremonial burning of banknotes, just for fun.

However, some Nigerians have expressed their dismay, accusing the OCCRP of subtle racism and rigging the rankings. "Why third? Why not first?" demanded a group of vocal critics. "Who else has done more for corruption, economic hardship, inflation, and nepotism than our dear president? "

At publishing time, a grassroots movement had started petitioning for Tinubu to be awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine, arguing that his "drug contributions" in Chicago deserved international recognition. “If only the world knew the extent of his legacy, maybe they’d name a pill after him,” one supporter mused.
