HelenaWills:
Just discovered this thread.
I have this neighbor (also a long time church member, like a youth pastor) who has been without a job for a while. He reached out to me with a deal. He would be hustling with my car (Honda Civic 09) five times a week and be giving me 25k/week with all repairs on him. I use the car basically only on Sundays. I jumped on the deal thinking it's the best thing after rice. There was no written agreement but he has not failed with his promise since August and to the best of my knowledge, car is in good shape. That's what my mechanic has been saying.
I must confess that he on his own decided to pay 35k/week since first week of December which of course is like a December appreciation gesture from him.
Please, is 25k/week a good deal? I'm not being greedy, just asking to be in the know of this business.
Although he hasn't failed with his payment, should I opt for a formal agreement?
Help a sister.
I charge 55k to rent out a similar car, when cars are used for long problems major problems build up which are expensive to fix, also higher mileage affects vehicles saleability.
You need to think of cost of replacement.
I have 25 cars I rent out and N55k is my rent, however I take full responsibility for all repairs service and maintenance
Prices of cars are expensive

Not entirely bad, to me it's a fair deal.
Don't judge with the dashboard you are seeing here.
What you should be after the conditions of the car, so you won't have to spend the little he has given you at last.
You should not ask drivers for how much you should rent . Ask owners, particularly veterans.
I earn N220k monthly on each of my cars, you are earning N100k it is not sustainable, in the long run.
25k is what a driver make in 6/8hrs.
I tell my drivers Friday/Saturday should be for the owner and weekdays for the driver.
The driver is a scammer and will use you to buy a car, leaving you with a dilapidated vehicle, pls just be careful.
Except you are doing it for altruistic reasons.
Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by Godfather10:
[quote author=Shimmaa post=133503065]I have no idea but 25k for 5days doesn't sound fair to me.

We have seen and heard where drivers are netting 30k daily, and someone is paying car owner 5k out of it...

Ole ni Awon drivers, when they make 30k easily everyday Haba ,
Awon Agba Yahoo.
These same drivers always abuse Govt.,for exploitation yet they want to chop and owners should starve.
Awon Ole Jati Jati, it’s only when there is fairness for both sides that everybody will prosper.
These drivers if you tell them you collect 12k they will say it’s fair.
Another crook might ask if you have another car to rent.
50/55k or keep your car don’t be fooled.’
December driver they clear btw 500k & 1m per month so pls don’t be fooled

Thank you Sirs, for your contributions.
Unless it’s for altruistic reasons don’t be fooled, some pay 65k for 7day.
I collect 55k rent my suggestion is 40/45k while he does all the maintenance

Update guys.

I got into Ghana 5 days ago. Tried to go online on my Bolt app. I discovered I can. As Lagos drivers, it appears we can use our account anywhere in Africa. Can't say of other parts of the world. Those in Europe and the likes can also help check this.

Bolt and Uber works all over the world as long as they have operations in that country

Foreigner12:
And will use 12k fuel per day atleast.
While still maintaining the car.
There's nothing wrong with the deal for me.
40/45k is abt right if he will fully maintain the car.
Drivers like freebies,
I take 55k and fully maintain my cars, my cars using Gas I take 65k
Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by Godfather10: 4:33pm On Dec 31, 2024
YeyeGbami:
Increase it to 30K after holiday, most importantly get a proper written agreement that will outline all the terms and condition.

People can be funny at times, we've seen and heard alot about mixing personal relationship with business which in most cases doesn't end well.
40/45k is about right if he will be responsible for maintenance and servicing, 30k is ridiculous
Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by Godfather10: 4:36pm On Dec 31, 2024
northbird:
The focus should be on the Golden goose laying the eggs. If the car is being taken care of and it's in excellent condition. It's a good deal. However, 30k might be considered a fair deal for 5 days.,provided the car is used in a responsible manner. Not trying to go inter state and flogging life out of the car.

I would rather have a careful and maintenance oriented driver than a rough and careless driver ..
I see some cars on ehailing and I'm like, damn, this is a rough driver.
Don’t ask drivers for advice seek from owners as well .
Drivers are greedy and selfish
Re: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by Godfather10: 4:38pm On Dec 31, 2024
AutoTechDoyz:
Madam, if you want to make money from ehailing you'd have to drive your car by yourself. Anything besides that you're on the losing end.
Here in Abuja, I net 25k minimum daily and I believe Lagos guys should earn higher.
Not everyone can do ehailing , but she does need to be paid a fair rent

You are right on this though. There is a need for balance, so that both parties are happy.

55k per week as rent is very fair if you are in the rental biz so as to catch up with inflation. Cost of cars ,parts and maintenance are crazily incredible.

Hmmn, it would have been better if you did not find this thread .That sweet relationship btw you and your driver, as you have describe it MIGHT crumble within the next 90 days!!
I am sure by now, you're already HATING ur driver....Why would driver be making 1M naira per month and he's giving you just 100k!
If you already have a MUTUALLY beneficial arrangement since Aug, pls stick to it!

Lol, one is already crying up and down.
Want to bring down this place with his rants, I pity his drivers.
Others made their suggestions but he can't pass his message without causing and insulting others.

I Hate Awon Agba Yahoo, in this inflation owner is receives rent of N100k monthly while the driver makes 1m.l Haba.!!
This business works best when there is fairness btw both owner and drivers.
My belief is all ehailing drivers will one day want to become fleet owners and renters of vehicles in future.
The system works best when there is fairness btw all parties.
Gbajua by one party will bring the whole system down
LETS MAKE THE WHOLE ECO-SYSTEM WORK FOR US
GREED IS A BAD THING.

Truth is, I'm even more confused than I was before I asked my questions.

I'm definitely not even interested in continuing with the deal any more.
I rather just park the car in the house.

What you are saying is the owner should wallow in poverty, what you are saying is if you have a tenant living in your property , 3bed house in say Lekki paying N500k he lived there since 2010, the landlord arrive from the UK, you are suggesting he accepts that rent like that because he is a very nice man, or a person collecting 35k minimum should not collect the new minimum wage because he is a nice man,
Does that make sense, Awon Gbajua, in a nice way
because O WA MUTUALLY BENEFICIAL.
Awon Agba yahoo!!
I just hate cheating.
Instead of giving honourable advise that will show your integrity.
