Nollywood actor Femi Branch has called on cinemas to stop prioritizing certain movies over others, urging them to adopt fair practices. Eyes Of Lagos reports,

The actor shared his concerns after attending a meet-and-greet event for Toyin Abraham’s recently released film, Alakada Bad and Bougie. Branch expressed frustration over the trend, noting that some cinema staff actively promote specific films while sidelining others.

According to him, these actions include staff wearing branded T-shirts for one movie, replacing media cards of some films with others at counters, and even persuading customers to choose certain movies by claiming they are better than their original choices.

Branch criticized these practices, stating that cinemas should not interfere with audience preferences. He warned that such behavior fosters division within the industry and called for a level playing field for all producers.

Echoing these concerns, actress and producer Toyin Abraham previously hinted at the challenges filmmakers face in cinemas. While thanking fans for supporting Alakada Bad and Bougie, she revealed that some audiences demand gifts before watching her film—a trend encouraged by producers who offer incentives to draw larger crowds.

Both Branch and Abraham have emphasized the need for fair treatment of movies in cinemas to ensure equality and unity in the industry.
