Best that Nwaneri learns that Saka role. It's natural for him to progress there. |

daveP:What are your thoughts about Partey’s contract situation? Should we offer him an extension? Afterall we still have the likes of Jorg in our books. Man is playing out of this world this season. If na by this season, baba has earned it, even if na 2 years but the reality is baba na agba, can he replicate this fitness and conditioning next year? I don’t think Merino is ready to take full ownership of that role just yet, especially without Partey. I am hoping he is ready next season but I don’t trust it, particularly the speed and physical aspects of the league. Rice isn’t built for that role in our system. We struggle offensively when he sits deep. Coming into this season, I was hoping to see him in attacking zones more but he has been injured quite a bit this season. I am just worried about the future of that role, post Partey. There is MLS, who is a stud and a natural but I don’t think he should this season. Maybe next season, he can start seeing minutes in that position. I like what Arteta is doing with him this season. |

Spy360:That goal is solely on Calafiori. The Brentford striker didn’t even do anything spectacular to beat him at all. Timber in that same position and the ball would’ve ricochet off his legs and back to midfield . |

Roland17:This Partey replacement ish is one we ought to be on since last season though. He's key to Tetaball than we imagine. I believe both Jorg and Partey will make way for younger replacements, but even fans can't currently shout for like for likes available in or out the club. Personally, I'd love an African to replace him, a younger one. I can't even drop Merino name for such role. Never!! Both can still do some extra season but not as main XI. I hope we don't abandon his replacement and switch style instead. |

BlueRayDick:You will be lucky to stop a professional player from taking a shot at goal 1v1. It is difficult for goal keepers talk less of player. |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by BlueRayDick: 4:27pm On Jan 02, 2025 |
Spy360:You don't even need luck to stop Mbeumo there at all. Saliba does that almost every game, all he just needed to do was close him down and narrow the angle by blocking off his strongest foot. It's either the ball ricochet off his leg or the shot ends up being a weak & ineffective shot. Calafiori messed up there, simple and straight. We sef don play ball before |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Spy360(m): 7:18pm On Jan 02, 2025 |
BlueRayDick:I will never judge a defender if he is faced with an attacker 1v1. Rather it's the cover (Gabriel M). What Mbeumo did was simple, aim at Cala blind side. That blind side was where GM should be. Mbeumo was always going to cut in and shoot. You would be lucky to block the shut. If GM was where Mbeumo was going to cut in, he would have had no option than to go wide. I can't blame one for being dribbled, I blame the cover for leaving the space after the dribble. |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by BlueRayDick: 7:44pm On Jan 02, 2025 |
Spy360:Ur school of thought is advocating for players not to take responsibility for their own mistakes . If u coach a team like this , ur team will always ship a basket load of goals every match Gabriel is a LCB and if u watch the match u will see he was clearly covering LCB while Calafiori was expected to cover the LB position while engaging Mbeumo. Calafiori’s primary duty was to cover his Left side by so doing ;blocking off Mbeumo’s strong foot . He failed at that and that was why Mbeumo could use his left foot to place the ball the same place Calafiori failed to cover . How can u leave Calafiori and start blaming Gabriel ? Maybe u should watch the replay of the game again. |
| Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: The Red & White Army: 2025/2026 EPL Champions! by Lush100(m): 7:49pm On Jan 02, 2025 |
Spy360:I beg to disagree. Mbeumo was coming from the left of arsenal post. No way a CB will stay at the blind spot. That is for the left back to cover. The CB and keepers then keeps out the larger space. The CB is to provide cover (blocking) i.e short cover while keeper prevent the rest. Cala didn't close him down enough |
