100% Tariff increase is not enough to return Nigerian TelCos to profitability while delivering quality service. The cost of everything has increased by at least 300% since January 2023, and by more than 1,000% since January 2015.

Personally, I am ready to pay up to 300% if they will provide us good quality highspeed network. MTN, Airtel and Glo should also be giving us exactly the amount of data we pay for. Why can't we have real UNLIMITED HIGHSPEED 5G DATA for N35k ($20) MONTHLY? Can they do that after charging 100% price increase?! Right now, I struggle to open browser pages or refresh Social Media, but whenever I get internet speed, it shows more than 1Gbps. How is that possible?

Diesel prices have risen 500% from about N200 to N1,200 since the year 2015, and this is the same Diesel they use to power their base stations, so how exactly will they be able to operate efficiently with a 100% increase? Unless of course they plan to continue giving us poor and inconsistent service in order to request another price increase soon.

Welcome to Neoliberalism. Service delivery from the Telcos is very poor yet they want to increase tariff to 100%. Apart from MTN which other Telco deserve this increase?
The MTN that you are claiming have been recording losses consistently for the past few quarters.

Fueling of the generators alone and staff busses. Electricity bills. .

I am an insider, so I know what's happening there. The tariff increase is overdue.

Let the govt finds way to mitigate costs for businesses, otherwise the end-consumers will continue to bear the weight of it.

Not sure you're residing in Nigeria or using any of the Telcos products.

I used to sub for a 1gb data every month. I used it to check online WAEC results , emails, do online registration for people using a laptop that updates some files, browse for my personal comfort.
Yet at the end of 30days window, I lost over 200mb unused data if I don't rollover before expiration. But today, same 1gb will expire within hours if you keep flipping pages on NL, FB, messenger, Whatsapp and Twitter within 24hours.

It’s long overdue. They need to purchase the 5G hardware. Although they have made return of investment for 3G and 4G multiple fold. But they are yet to roll out 5g to cover most part of the country

If they try it I'll just switch to starlink. Cos mtn and airtel are just crappy network which I'm managing because it's cheap and affordable. Early this month I recharged my airtel router, and the network has been going on and off. I can't even use it to work. That of mtn isn't even better. You keep wasting your money without getting any value for your money spent.

Anything that makes the price of their internet bundle start rubbing shoulderes with that of starlink, I'm ditching them for good.

Flashback: How Bola Tinubu spoke highly of Buhari in 2015, named PDP ‘Poverty Development Party

National leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu had during the presidential campaign in 2015, referred to President Muhammadu Buhari as the only solution for the security and economic challenges facing Nigeria.

During a mega presidential rally, the former governor of Lagos State recalled how some powerful nations in the world returned to army generals when they were challenged, saying “Major General Buhari would revive Nigeria’s economy”.

He named the current opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP as the “Poverty Development Party saying they had nothing to offer.

His words at the time were; “Every nation has a period of their own challenges, when America was challenged, they turned to one great man, their ex-military general, General Eisenhower. When the French were challenged, they turned to their general, Charles de Gaulle.

“When Britain was challenged, they turned to their general. Today, Nigeria is economically and physically challenged so we turn to General Muhammadu Buhari. He is the right man for the job. If you talk about military experience, he has it abundantly, he has courage, simplicity, he has it abundantly.

“If you talk about great determination, a combination of vision and ability to perform, honesty and integrity, he has it abundantly.

“I laugh when the incapable government, ‘Poverty Development Party’ PDP were talking. They have nothing again to say, they now want to question the qualifications of General Buhari and look for his certificate”.

Following the manifestos in 2015 which projected the APC presidential candidate as a ‘saviour’, Buhari defeated the then incumbent president, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan with Nigerians expecting a total change in security and economy.

Blame Baba Iyabo for making him president by helping him make olodo Buhari president in 2015.

citizenisb:
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo says President Muhammadu Buhari may not do well in economy and foreign affairs, except in military matters.

“Buhari is not a very hot person on the economy and foreign affairs,” Obasanjo said.

The former President stated this on Monday at the third International Conference on African Development Issues — themed, “Driving inclusive and sustainable development in Africa: Models, methods and policies” — organised by Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State.

While reacting to a question posed to him by a member of the audience: “Is there any hope for Nigeria under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari?”, Obasanjo replied, “Is there any hope for Nigeria under this administration? I came back from Geneva, Switzerland a few days ago to attend a conference titled, ‘Are elections giving democracy a bad name?’ We had an election, we elected a leader and the good thing about democracy is that the power you have to elect a leader is also the power you have to remove him. I am saying this because I said earlier that if you don’t see any leader that has done well in the 56 years of Nigeria’s independence, then let us forget about Nigeria.

“I will tell you what I know and I will tell you what I don’t know. I know Gen. Muhammadu Buhari. He served under me in the military. His characteristics that I know, his behaviour that I know, he has not deviated from them. He was never a perfect man, he is not a perfect man and no leader can ever be a perfect man because they are human beings. But if you read my book, what I said about him is correct. He is not a hot person when it comes to economy. He is not a very hot person when it comes to foreign affairs. But he will do well in matters of military and he will do well in fighting Boko Haram.”

but the thing is they made back their investment for the 3g and 4g. So whatever they are getting after that is enough for the shitty service they provide.

I remembered when Airtel roll out 4g network. It was fast as air in my area because every body then was still using 3g phones and modern. I quickly discarded my glo which was 3g in my area. But when 4g phone saturate everywhere they airtel network because useless.

So basically they are doing nothing to improve coverage but just powering mask and collecting money. With that they made the return of investment. The increase is not to improve either but just to continue the shitty network or maybe to help roll out 5g to some part if the country

That is why I said '' apart from MTN which other Telco deserves an increase in tariff?

The failure of past govt to provide stable, dedicated and reliable power supply is the reason why MTN is running its base stations on generators, its a huge cost to operations. They should buy an oil bloc for refining their own diesel.

You have already doomed yourself by that prayer.

Because God does not pay heed to a selfish prayer.

Why should God single you out specifically for favour. Are you saying you are more righteous than the person not in your family?

Do people actually give thought to their prayer points before actually uttering them out?

No wonder prayers don't get answered. Nigerians are too selfish in their prayers.
