I get your point which still resolves around mismanagement. A good manager won't let go of their means which was Agriculture just because they discovered crude oil.
Nigeria did not let go of Agriculture...

it was the regions that were making money from Agriculture and funding agriculture in their regions..

once regionalism was abolished and oil became more established and the FG now controlled the former regions revenues from agriculture then the regions could no longer fund the agriculture that made them money because the FG started giving them a small percentage of the revenues they were making from agriculture..

if you own a farm and were investing ₦5 billion into the farm yearly then someone comes and takes control of your revenues and that someone starts giving you ₦50 million yearly to invest in your farm won't it affect your farming business...

would you say you have mis-managed your farm?

With all due respect it still boils down to mismanagement by the FG who couldn't carry along with them an efficient productive agriculture in a more systematic way that will even yield more.

nope..

the FG now having access to revenue it normally did not have... now meant that the revenues from Agriculture from those regions was now used to build schools, hospitals, roads, stadiums, civil service buildings, governors lodge, senate houses e.t.c. across the whole country..

if the FG was to carry along with them then that means the FG would have to give the former regions at least 90% of the revenues and abandon building schools, hospitals, roads, civil service buildeings e.t.c across the whole country...

the abolishment of regionalism indirectly is what led to the development you see in Abuja and northern Nigeria today...

if regionalism was not abolished.. you won't see the smooth roads, state and federal schools, state and federal hospitals e.t.c. you see in northern Nigeria and some other parts of Nigeria today..

so between 1830 and 1960... it was only 1 college they built in the whole country.. and it was Nigerians that upgraded it to a university after 1960.. and less than 10 primary and secondary schools

while Nigeria after independence in 1960 till date have been able to build over 270 universities, 23,550 secondary schools and over 81,520 primary schools..

you're a slave and you are suffering from colonial mentality...

Its an achievement because at least they used it for something..

Lack of concentrated developments in the regions that are making the revenues due to revenue sharing.
