That is one thing elements like you lacks, respect itself they say is reciprocals, respect is dynamic, I don't think any thinking human being should respect illegitimate elders although without being 'disrespectful'.

In the case of what happened, there is a lot of questions that need to be asked. But it is clear that there is existing contestation on the newly appointed king. And the youth now challenged his authority to elect a chief Imam for his community where there is an original Imam in the Ido Osun.

I would say a thorough consultation and dialogue could have averted the horrible situation. And also for me that emphasize the fact that the monarchy which continue to benefit and defend the ruling system has over stayed its relevancy.

Forget this your ethnic bigotry and superficial thinking, let rise and fight to win a new society that create conditions for collective growth!

Let me tell you a story, we only respect who respect him or herself. There's this town called Ado-Odo in Ogun state, it's almost 20 years since they don't have a king now, why? Because he forced himself to be king due to his connection and power instead of his elder brother that the whole town chooses, he began to misbehave and Addo people are not one to be toyed with. Omoh guess what? He had an encounter with one of the youth on his way to an occasion and ordered his securities to beat him. Afterward, the youth descend on his palace, stripped him naked, beat him and his wives to stupor and ran to the capital city Abeokuta for safety with the help of the governor. Till date he dare not touch that town.
And in Yoruba land, you don't enthrone another king when one is still alive. So the town must wait till his death before choosing another king
