President Tinubu had stated on New Year morning that he was going to visit states, he said that he was sure that he would find something to be proud of in the states. He said that he was going to begin by visiting Enugu on the 4th of January.

In response, the chairman of the Governors's Forum, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazak said that the governors were getting increased revenue and they were doing great things with it. He mentioned the Blue and Red Lines in Lagos, roads in Delta and Bayelsa, etc. He said that he was sure that President Tinubu would see these developments when he visits the states.

In order for President Tinubu to make that announcement, the visit must have been planned a long time in advance. Presidential state visits are not spur of the moment events and the itinerary must have been coordinated with the Enugu State Government.

It was after President Tinubu made that announcement that Peter Obi asked the President to travel around the country by road.
