Foolish Kperoji or whatever he calls himself, if Tinubu is not a clannish president, why would he always pick his kinsmen? Northern Nigeria has 19 states and over hundred ethnic groups, so why must Tinubu find only his kinsman as worthy to become the next NNPC helmsman?

This man is nothing but a gutter brown envelope journalist who writes for the highest bidder. They've told him to reverse himself and he immediately did that for selfish gains.

Spit!

Kwara is 90% Yoruba and I challenge anyone to tackle me on dis, kogi has a majority Yoruba tribe in the west, Dino melaye, smart adeyemi, deji adeyanju, and abiodun faleke, are all from dis region..... North-Central zones has a lot of diversity in terms of language as many tribes fall into dis zones..... It amazes me that instead of looking at competence in 2025,some people are still playing regional politics.....
Are you saying that Bayo Bashir Ojulari is incompetent?

Farooq Kperogi is a bigot. This man launched a campaign of calumny against VP Osinbajo, writing articles about the latter's alleged RCCGification of Nigeria which ended up portraying the moderate and civil Osinbajo as some neo-pentecostal crusader.

He's also claimed he'd stop writing on Nigerian politics if Tinubu becomes president. Anyone who takes Mr. Kperogi seriously needs a thousand sessions with a psychiatrist.

This is a serious error of judgment! Does one cease being Yoruba because he is from Kwara or Kogi? Farooq Kperogi has damaged his reputation with this wrong premised reversal. If Tinubu wanted to be more inclusive, why didn’t he pick a non-Yoruba from Lagos or Ogun, assuming there is one, instead of appointing another YORUBA from Kwara? Shame on you, Farooq. This is disgraceful.

Mr Kperogi's attempt at clarification still corroborates his earlier view:

From his explanation and opinion of most people on this platform, Bayo Ojulari is a Yoruba man who happens to be of North Central origin. Don't forget that North Central is a geopolitical zone not a tribal group.

The Kwara people are predominantly Yoruba people. That means the allegations of Mr Kperogi are still founded by his clever attempt to deflect his earlier assertions.

I wonder why he is trying to clarify his opinion anyway. I don't really blame Tinubu because Buhari showed everyone that he didn't care about the federal character in his selections for service in his government and the various MDAs under his government. Never has nepotism been so bad as it was under Buhari. Was it the recruitment done in FIRS, NPA but to mention a few, under Buhari's government.

When you set a dangerous precedence, you should know that it may turn around to bedevil you. I am somehow not bothered that Tinubu seems to be serving the North back the nepotism and sectional recruitment and administration that they visited on Nigeria. I know this may just be the beginning. Everyone that becomes president of Nigeria will always want to select his trusted folks, especially for sensitive positions, in his government going forward. It has become a precedent contrary to federal character - federal character seem to have been dumped.

Having a dialect doesn't mean one do not belong to an ethnic group, eg, ijebu, egba, awori, ijesha, ondo, etc, has their dialect that you won't even get any idea when communicating around you, yet they are Yorubas.
NB: I'm not saying the Okuns are or are not Yoruba, I don't really know much about Kogi, just aware that there are some Yorubas there

I'm a country with diverse cultures such as ours, regionalism would always play out. Imagine bringing the technocrats from the south to head sensitive positions in government. Would you be surprised if the north cry of marginalisation tomorrow?
The North started this trend under Buhari's government, they should endure it too because other people watched as they did it for 8 years under Buhari. That is my observation

This is exactly the comment I was looking for. BAYO ojulari is yoruba and not a norhterner, period! If BAT wanted a northerner there are northerners that are as qualified as Bayo Ojulari for that job. Bashir Bello, who is one of the northerners on the board of his own Oando and Musa Kida who is on the board of several Oil companies in Nigeria are two very qualified northerners who can do the job.

Content writing and journalism plays a huge part in national building as the third realm of governance. A content that is not well researched and thought out can bring a nation to civil war and can deny a nation of foreign direct investment. Kperogi, I have time without number critic your content on many occasions because there are most times not well thought out and researched as Remo Omokri does his without going back on correction and partial apology. Revisiting your content put you in the class of clout seeking individuals who want to attain fame with ease.
You are based in abroad and your content will easily be consumed by diaspora because of your position in the academia and your ties with your homeland, so a little mistake in your content can do a great harm to your country. Brushing off your written mistake by a wave of hand is not accepted but a total change in approach to your writing without bias is advised.
Research forms the bedrock of every genuine content rather than hearsay which can reduce your journalism to a mere beer parlour conversation.
Keep up your good work but a change in your approach is highly recommended. Do not join the queue of illiterate journalism we have in Nigeria social media and renown Television stations, all interest is the click, like and traffic.
Mr Kperogi was only being rhetorical, consciously or otherwise. His second article was a clever attempt to re-emphasize his earlier article.

If the north didn’t have a problem with the NNPC being fulanized under a Fulani president, why are they now kicking against yorubanization under a Yoruba presidency? What part of the constitution reserves the right of power to some over others?? cool

Tinubu started the ONE DAY GOVERNOR of a thing where a brilliant student that emerge winner from the spelling bee competition become a one day governor in Lagos.

Report reaching me say Jagaban is planning to start the same program at the federal level but this time na for adults who can emerge as one day president. This is a big opportunity for Peter Obi. But can Peter Obi win a spelling bee competition?
Peter Obi spent over 10 years in the university studying for a lowly rated course of 4 years.

Peter Obi is too dull to win any spelling competition even if he is placed among primary school pupils.

South West, North Central and other geopolitical zones are just geopolitical zones, they are often relevant I politics or for statistical data. They are not a tribe classification so I don't think it is necessary to reclassify or carve out the Yoruba speaking Kogi and Kwara people.

We know the history of how Fulani took over the rule in Kwara.

Wow you must be a professional in the field of journalism to think along this line. Very in dept and well thought out analysis. I wish he gets to see this.

If Kerogi is indeed as professional as he happens to be, a professor at that, all his arguments should be based solely on research but from his writings you can pick sentimentalism and vindictiveness against the person of Tinubu.
